To be an American. some take this phrase too lightly some, too strict. Being an American does not mean that you go to baseball games and eat hot dogs and everything is golden, but to live your life to the fullest, yeah your free but you still gotta work for what you want not just waving around a flag day after day. Being an American is to help each other, whether you be Polish,Chinese,Afghan or Muslim. Being an American means helping your sworn enemy, even if you do not want to, but you shall help with dignity and pride. also to have a good education. It means that I can say "The Pledge of Allegiance" and that I can vote for the President,and the Mayor. But to me it means most of all to be free and to be proud that I live in the United States of America because not all people have the benefit of being free some people out there are fighting half killing each other just to support themselves and their families. Being an American also means that we are treated equally no matter what color skin we may have, and it doesn 't matter what culture you are from and we also have rights that give us the ability of freedom of speech; i also get to go to school for free and you can go wherever you want u want to go to the beach or maybe to the mall or just to a friends house u can go in peace and parents can let their kids go to school or on field trips by themselves without the fear of their kids getting hurt. because we are american we can have privileges like caring for your community like say You could join a trash pickup. You could donate money to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and many other things. You could join Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts and do things with
