Beowulf Is An Ideal Hero

Have you ever had someone so loyal to you that they are willing to give their life for you? No, i didn't think so. Well a very long time ago an unknown person wrote an epic poem now known as Beowulf. The author was most likely a monk but i will never be assured. In this epic poem Beowulf, there are several characters. The main character in the poem is Beowulf and he is the perfect hero that goes through hell and back for his people. Then there is Grendel, the monster of the poem that commits sinister deeds such as murder and him and Beowulf are rivals. In this poem Grendel commits murders in the Herot. Beowulf, since he is such a great hero finds out about what Grendel did and sets off with his men to kill Grendel. Beowulf was believed to be the mightiest and most bravest off the hero's. In the poem it states, “ In his far-off home Beowulf, Higlac's follower and the strongest of the geats - greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world” (Pg. 3-4). When this is said Beowulf had already found out that grendel had killed 30 men in the Herot and is getting ready to gather his men and go kill Grendel. With this being said everyone in the poem believed that Beowulf was the ultimate leader, but grendel was the perfect monster. In this following paragraph i will write about how evil Grendel was. Grendel was not only evil but heartless and cruel. For instance, in the poem it states, “ The monsters thoughts were as quick as his claws: He slipped through the door and there in silence snatched up thirty men, unknowingly in their beds and ran out with their bodies, the blood dripping behind them (Pg. 2). This quote proves that grendel is the worst of the worst and only a sinister monster would be able to carry out such devious deed. It also goes to show everything beowulf must have gone through to get to this
