This is not a regular day for jharel. He is going downtown to protest on black lives matter. He believes all lives matter but african american lives are being targeted the most.He feels like they don 't care about african american lives and were taken for granted. This is something that have been going on for a while now.We believe black lives matter and something should be done for all the people we lives have been taken away. One reason african american are protesting on black lives matter is because they feel we are not getting treated equally. "I couldn 't even go to the county public library and check a book out,"(Kellaher 1) We can 't even sometimes do the same stuff white people do without getting told we 're doing it wrong. An african american can walk in the store and buy something and still be accused of stealing. On the other hand white people can walk in the store and buy something and not be accused of stealing. We believe all lives matter but african american lives are being targeted the most. Some people say racism is coming back. That 's one of the main reason why african americans and many others are protesting on black lives …show more content…
A second reason why african americans are protesting on black lives matter is because african americans are being killed by the police officers and nothing 's being done.”Nearly 1 in 3 black people killed by police in 2015 were identified as unarmed, though the actual number is likely higher due to underreporting”(Mapping 1).We feel as if we are being lynched.People feel as if nothing 's changed since slavery.African americans can 't even trust going to the cops nomore. Its to the point where we can 't even drive or walk down the street without getting stopped by a police officer. For example there was an african american that was walking down the street with a arizona and a pack of skittles he was then stopped by a police officer killed.Justice was not served for the
Many people did maches, held signs, and even made shirts. Still till this day, People celebrate Trayvon's death by dressing up in a black hoodie with an Arizona and Skittles and taking a picture. By them doing that means a lot. It shows that not just black lives matter, but all do. Trayvon was black but most importantly, he had a life just like anybody
No matter what they have done, small to large crimes, they are labeled as criminals and prisoners and seeing nothing more than that causing a permanent a second-class citizenship. Once release out of prison, former prisoners enter a world that is invisible to others where discrimination and permanent social exclusion is legalized. In addition, police brutality also constitutes the New Jim Crow where police officers racially profile African Americans civilians usually ending in violence and death. With police brutality happening over the U.S. it places a fear amongst communities fearing the authorities. The old Jim Crow was not stated in the constitution however they knew of this existence because due to the fact that African Americans were openly segregated in stores, schools, and many other public places.
So in order to get the freedom they have to take action. They can no longer wait. The black community has been waited long enough to see justice, but still see injustice. Places where the Black live, police are brutal, they curse, killed people. Everything is segregate between the white majority and black minority.
Alicia Garza: co-creator of the #BlackLivesMatter movement (BLM) advocates that -“Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean your life isn’t important – it means that Black lives, which are seen as without value within White supremacy, are important to your liberation. Given the disproportionate impact state violence has on Black lives, we understand that when Black people in this country get free, the benefits will be wide-reaching and transformative for society as a whole. When we are able to end the hyper-criminalisation of Black people and end the poverty, control and surveillance of Black people, every single person in this world has a better shot at getting and staying free. When Black people get free, everybody gets free.” (The Conversation,2017).

Almost every year hundreds to thousands of African Americans are killed due to police brutality. Over like a hundred of African Americans were killed this year because of police brutality. Everyone who has been a part of police brutality, their families have to go on with life knowing someone really special to them is not in their life anymore. Many families are devastated this year because they have lost a family member or a spouse due to this situation. Many African Americans think that police brutality is not right.
America was founded because the colonists didn’t agree with the government of Great Britain. Taxation had a huge impact on the colonists and even todays economy. Great Britain had put a tax on alcohol, sugar, stamps, paper documents, and even tea. Colonists became inflamed by being taxed without representation, causing them to take drastic measures to prove their points through disobedience and revolting against the government.
The Black Lives Matter was founded in 2013 by three African American women. It’s another social justice that has made national news for their cause. Black Lives Matter is just more than a social movement. It is an out cry for help, as a nation, as a whole. Black Lives Matter is a community.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) has been described as the new Civil Rights Movement. In response to BLM Sybrina Fulton says, “I could never have imagined that my son would become, in death, a symbol for injustice” (Fulton & Martin
From Ferguson to Tulsa to Baton Rouge, there have been countless cases of police brutality towards African-American men, women, and children. Murderers never receiving their justice, given paid time off and being cleared of charges. Families living in fear, left torn apart at the hands of people who took an oath to serve and protect. We see people of all races standing together in protest of something we know to be wrong, advocating for much needed social change.
Every child gets “The REAL Talk,” but every talk is different. For most African Americans the the talk includes how the world is not a fair place if a person is different, if African Americans want to get somewhere, they have to work twice as hard, and In the US last year, 223 African Americans were killed by police due to police brutality. One third of those people were unarmed, and should not have been seen as a threat, but they were still killed. 12 of these people were under the age of 18. African Americans should not have to be scared to go outside any day thinking they might not make it home.
There have been many movements in the United States in which African Americans have been the focal point for example the Selma March, the March on Washington, the civil rights movement, and even today the Black Lives Matter movement. Those movements have had a significant impact on the United States and still play a part in today’s society. Those movements still play a part in today’s society because without those movements there wouldn’t be a Black Lives Matter because African Americans wouldn’t have the courage to stand up a fight for their rights if it wasn’t for Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, or the many other activists that stood up for African-American rights. Selma and the March on Washington share a big relationship to the Black Lives Matter and they are just as important to the civil rights movement.
they also encourage equality among black individuals who are portrayed as outcasts through mainstream media and are a subject of much discrimination by individuals of different classes and races. While I do agree that black lives do matter and this group set is for a good cause. they also have the right to protect the African American community, however, it is imperative to set a good example and not encourage more violence through unethical protests that further cause havoc and further creates a false image of the African-American community. While I also Agree with Heather MacDonald’s article, which informs about the potential dangers of
The title of the article I chose to address is titled “The rise of Black Lives Matter: Trying to break the cycle of violence and silence”. This article extend beyond the idea of Black Lives Matter and wants the reader to be informed on what it is like to be black in america. The author includes a wide amount of information to help the reader understand why this cry for help was even created and why they want to stand up and make a change in our society. The purpose of this piece is to inform the general audience as to what Black Lives Matter really is and explain how they hope to rise as a movement. All though there may be issues within the group and outside forces that are wanting to go against them they will still not be silenced.
Black lives do matter and need to be protected better by the government. In America, liberty and freedom are these controversial concepts that people in authority just think they can take away when someone breaks a rule. If these social issues were to be evaluated on a smaller scale they would seem so atrocious. In the sense of let's use people as currency and not allow them basic human rights. Furthermore, white christians are so afraid of becoming enslaved by foreign groups such as ISIS but at one point europeans were the terrorist.
