The early men were German criminals who were the worst people Germans could find.
On the page entitled “Panorama of the Camps at Birkenau,” find these two topics and record key information:
Krematoria II and III: Krematoria II and III were the biggest Krematoria in the Nazi system. People were gassed and burned there. The people ashes were dumped in pits or in the Sola River. The Krematorias were built to kill Jewish people, but Sinti and Roma people were killed there as well.
Kommando: A kommando was a work unit of prisoners. The Kapo or prisoner foreman had power of life and death over the people he oversaw in the kommando.
