Dogertown is a town that use to be named Chavez Ravine. People were debating about the name change because some held the name close to their heart. In 1949 the local goverment decided to place low income houses where the poor neighborhood was. They were ordered to leave. They were promised new housing to mollify the neighborhood. It never came in to fruition when they kicked everyone out ,and bulldozed the area for a Dogers baseball stadium. Eric Avila a professer at the California univeristy states that Changing the name would eradicate the memory of the old community.
