Michael walked up to the door and knocked tree times. He nervously pulled down his arm sleeve. Charlie answered the door in his pajamas. “I was wondering, you know under the circumstances, if I could crash at you place” Michael asked shifting from one foot to the other. Charlie sighed and opened the door wider to allow his brother to slip past into the apartment. “I’m going to bed. You can use the couch. I’m sure you will be able to manage until morning without me” Charlie said sounding annoyed. Michael nodded, grateful that his brother even allowed him through the door. He made him bed on the couch using the sheets and blanket he found in the hall closet. He tried to sleep but knowing the fate that awaited him the next day, he was unable …show more content…
His and Charlie’s tastes were very different. Michael hated reading whereas Charlie loved reading so much he even became an author. Charlie’s books were the only books Michael even read. Michael wasn’t going to lie, his brother wasn’t the next Shakespeare or even as good as J. K. Rowling but Charlie was pretty okay at writing. The reason Michael even read his books, besides the fact that they were brothers, was that Charlie often wrote about things that the two brothers had gone though as kids. The stories weren’t exactly what Michael remembered happening at those times but he figured Charlie had just changed up the story a bit to make it more interesting. Michael picked up one of his brother’s books and memories came flooding …show more content…
Neither would admit it to the other, but they had both missed this type of thing. They’d have conversations like this all the time when they were back home. Charlie would wake up before Michael every morning. He’d have cheerios and a cup of coffee waiting for his brother every morning. Michal would eventually wake up and walk down stairs, knowing breakfast was ready and that he would get to chat with his brother. This is how it went every single morning until the one morning where it wasn’t. Charlie had gone off to college leaving his older brother at home, working at his dad’s mechanic shop. From then on Michael had to make his own cheerios and

The police confiscated the family’s clothing as evidence, and the parents were sent to a motel while the two surviving children, Michael and Shannon, were sent to the county’s shelter for children. The young, mentally scarred children were not only separated from their family, they were not allowed to see them for two days. Without parental consent or attorneys present, Michael and Shannon were taken to the police station to be questioned about the murder of their sister. The police took Michael several times, and was singled out by the Escondido police because of how distant he seemed after his sister's body was discovered. Michael was now the prime suspect in his sister's brutal
Chapter four Journal In this chapter, the author looks at hermeneutics in a much broader sense, which is much less exact than the exegesis tool. The author again reminds readers that “a text cannot mean what it never could have meant for its original readers or hearers” (Fee and Stuart, 77). That is why the exegesis must come first. So in summary, the basic rule is not to be used alone, but it can always inform the reader as to what a passage cannot mean.

An experience that changes Charlie is when Charlie’s father dies. This experience changes him when he says, “When the undertakers came to wheel my father’s lifeless body out to the hearse, it was as if they took my childhood with them. Like other boys, I still wore ‘Knickerbockers’ in the schoolyard. I played ‘queenies’ and marbles too. But once the lessons were over, I returned home and stepped into the long pants of adulthood.
Charlie repeats this to himself because he thinks hiding Laura’s body was wrong and wishes to fix his mistakes. This shows that each decision Charlie makes is to hide Laura’s body, and Charlie is filled with guilt. “Laura Wishart is dead and I touched her warm body and she’s cursed me with dread and sorrow.” (Silvey, P.83) Dialogue is also another crucial technique used by Silvey to explore Charlie’s ethics and
