Eating out can be a fast, easy way to get a meal quick. But do we really know what is going in our bodies? Through research the numbers for a typical meal at Chick-Fil-A was found a recorded and also an alternative meal was found and recorded. The amount of total calories for typical meal at Chick-Fil-A is 1270 calories and my daily estimated calorie needs for one day is 2188 calories. As seen, research was done on an alternative meal which consists of 690 total calories. The alternative meal was moderately easy to lower the calories at Chick-Fil-A. At times there is belief which there is no healthy, cheap food item on fast food menus, but if looked and searched healthier meals can be found.
As we go to a fast food restaurant some strategies which would help lower total calories is staying away from meals which are fried and also sugary beverages. Sodas, and other sugary beverages can add up to more empty calories which are not needed in a healthy moderate diet. As we can see through these researched numbers it can be very hard to have a normal caloric intake if we are eating this more than twice a week. Through research it was found the total amount of sodium in a typical meal at Chick-Fil-A which is 2000 milligrams. In my recommended amount of sodium for a day is less than 2300 milligrams. This is for one meal of the day, and this sodium level is more than two-thirds of my daily intake. There are some specific foods which contributed to the high sodium levels but the one food item that had the highest level of sodium was the chicken sandwich itself. The Questionnaire we constructed included several different question types, such as Likert, so we could gather the most accurate data. The first couple of questions we asked were simple questions to understand the person taking the survey. Some of these questions included gender and age range. These questions made us aware of the demographics taking the questionnaire. Then we included questions that gave us insight on how frequently they ate fast food and how frequently they visited Chick-fil-a. Some examples of these questions were, how far they lived from a Chick-fil-a, what meal they usually eat at a fast food restaurant, and how many times a week they eat Chick-fil-a. The foods we eat all contain calories needed to sustain my everyday energy levels. As a moderately active student, my recommended average intake of calories is 2400 per day, whereas during the project my average daily intake was 1280 calories per day leaving me at a deficit of 1120 calories.
