In the book “night,” by Elie Wiesel, shows his experiences and memories during the holocaust from 1941-1945. The holocaust was a time when hitler ordered that all jews to be wiped out completely. Hitler said this “Wir müssen uns von den dreckigen europäischen Juden aus unserer großen Nation befreien, um es zu dem zu machen, was es für uns ist.” What do you think this saying says? First, let's talk about who Elie Wiesel is.
In Eliezer Wiesel’s, “Night”, fifteen-year-old Elie writes a memoir of the horrific journey he endured as he was hauled to and from multiple Nazi concentration camps during World War II. He and his fellow inmates are beaten and deprived of their basic needs such as food and water. As evidenced by the prisoners’ cold-blooded and ferocious actions and words, when people are mentally and physically tortured, self- preservation and selfishness become part of survival. During the journey to a camp called Buchenwald, the need to eat and survive overrules fundamental human civility.
In both Complete Maus and Night, there is a clear depiction that times of war unleash chaos on those involved, however, they are able to bring family members closer to one another in search of hope and safety. Throughout both novels, Vladek and Elie show clear acts of perseverance to help their family members in just Auschwitz alone. The acts that took place in Auschwitz are the worst possible things Humans can do to each other; mass-murder. However, during this time Vladek attempts to aid the love of his life, Anja, while Elie makes caring for his father his number 1 priority. It is evident that their actions determine the outcomes of the lives of their family members as well.
“Genocide begins, however improbably, in the conviction that classes of biological distinction indisputably sanction social and political discrimination” (Dworkin). Genocides are mass killings of people, targeted and purposefully killed because of their faith or what nation they represent. In other words, large amounts of people were killed because of discrimination and hatred that turns violent and destructive. Innocent people are dying in genocides by others who are unforgiving and merciless or have a weak mentality. A couple notable genocides that have occurred throughout history is the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide.

Yet by the time him and Elie had started to become accustomed to living in the concentration camps 2 main things started to change, one being his father’s motivation to be a leader and role model for others which started to fade after a few weeks in the camps. The other being that once Elie’s father’s physical abilities started to become poor Elie could no longer look up to his father as role model he had always

How could one treat an innocent child so cruel? During the time of the genocide in which Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany and its collaborators killed about six million people from the Jewish population, children were the main target. By looking at the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, one can see through the use of imagery, diction and conflict that innocent children were starved abused separated from their family, and killed during the Holocaust, which is important because young innocent children should never have to be deprived of their childhood. First, children of the Holocaust were abused or beaten for any wrong move that they made or even attempted to make.
