The legend of Chris Kyle, one of the most infamous snipers in American History. Born on April 8th, 1974, in Odessa, Texas, Chris was a happy child. Throughout his childhood Chris always wanted to be in the rodeo competitor. While he was in the rodeo he broke his wrist causing him to have a surgery to fix the damage that was done. Though this changed this idea later and wanted to become a United States Marine. Sadly Chris was rejected at first. Then in 1999, Chris signed up for the SEALS (Sea, Air, Land) after being offered a invitation to a demolition class. When Chris completed all 4 tours he came home with an impressive 160 confirmed kills. Chris later started to help veterans with PTSD and other mental health issues. In, book he claims, “The Navy credits me with more kills as a sniper than any other American service member, past or present” (Kyle 5). In other words, the Navy credits Chris as the deadliest sniper in American history. With “160 confirmed kills in Iraq” (Kyle 5). Chris didn’t give himself full credit. The actual estimated “true number was 225”(Real Clear Politics). He managed to kill many of the deadliest ISIS members. These kills helped save hundreds of soldier’s lives, as well as civilians. In his book, he stated that, “The number is not important to me. I only wish I had killed more.” (Kyle 4). TIME magazine states that, “After returning home from his fourth tour, Kyle started a company that installed exercise equipment in veterans’ homes. He would also spend time with small groups of veterans, often taking them to shooting ranges, and talking to them about their experiences in war and at home.” (TIMES Magazine). In other words, Chris started a company other veterans get gym materials for their homes. Many veterans give Kyle the credit for helping them become stronger than ever. After his death, his wife Taya and his parents, started a non-profit organization to help veterans even more. This non-profit is known as Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. The CKFF is known to help families who have loved ones or are suffering from PTSD.
