Reasons To Watch Cinco De Mayo:The Battle Movie
A lot of people in the United States celebrate Cinco De Mayo, but most of them don’t know what Mexico celebrate in that day. Whether they are Mexican or Americans for them is an occasion to celebrate by getting together, drinking and partying all night. A good way to learn what Mexico celebrates that day, would be watching the movie “Cinco De Mayo:The battle”. The movie narrates the battle of Puebla the most important battle in Mexico history. The movie “Cinco De Mayo:The battle” should be a must see because is base on true events, is also the biggest budget Mexican movie ever, but most important it educates people on what Mexico commemorates in that day.
On May 5th in 1862, the French Emperor Napoleon III tried to conquer Mexico as part of his empire building plan. The almost invincible French Army at that time, with more than six thousand soldiers, tried to establish a monarchy in Mexico. But the Mexican Army commanded by the General Ignacio Zaragoza with only two thousand soldiers defeated the French Army. Even when they were outnumbered by four thousand men and a better equipped army. The Movie director in a interview also mentioned how the victory of the Mexican army over the French change the course of world because if the French army would of defeated Mexico in may 5th of 1862 the south would of won the Civil War and Mexico would have belong to France territory, as well as some part of the central United States.
