There are numerous things that I value and keep close to my heart. That’s why I always say “Never lose sight of what’s important to you.” Throughout my childhood, I heard this quotation countless times. As I grew older, it became a part of me. This quotation leads me in almost everything that I do. That includes my goals, interests, and my strengths. My personal goal is to volunteer more, my academic goal is to obtain my PhD, and my career goal is to become a surgeon. My career goal is to become a surgeon but I would like to work my way up from nursing. Becoming a surgeon is important to me because I can improve the quality of life for others who have been physically hurt or have developed a medical condition. Just imagining the feeling of helping someone be able to live a normal or better life makes me ecstatic. For example, say someone was in a bad car accident. The person in the accident has an open compound fracture. I would clean and remove debris from the laceration to prevent infection. I would feel amazing after helping this person heal their arm with no complications. Being a surgeon of any sort has many obstacles. An obstacle that would apply to me would be creating a bond with my patients during the healing process or before hand when they first come in. This would be an obstacle for me because as we all know, life and death happens. Sometimes there’s nothing left that you can do for the patient. Solutions for this would be learning to cope with the way of life. Another way I could do this is to seek insight from another surgeon. One way or another, I will have to overcome this obstacle in order to fulfill my career
