Why college education is important to me?
College is an institution of higher learning that grants degrees, diplomas and certificates in various subjects’ areas. College often plays an important role in molding and shaping a young person’s future. It unlocks opportunities because the knowledge and the skills one acquires from attending a college put them in a position to obtain a well paid job and make one become independent. It signifies who or what that person becomes tomorrow. While going through school it has always been my dream to become someone good in life. Someone with great knowledge and power to conquer the world. Philosopher Sir Francis Bacon once said, “Knowledge is power”. With proper knowledge one can progress in life and aspire to become whatever he or she want to be. Ghanaian Statesman Kofi Annan states, “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family. It is my dream to learn as much as I can. This is why college education is important to me.

College is Worth it All Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I believe a college education is worth the cost in spite of today’s skyrocketing tuition costs and a poor job market. Despite most students that leave college with expensive degrees, massive debt, and no jobs; they gain something in life. The expense of a college degree is worth the benefits. Dreams are achievable if one puts in the amount of work necessary to succeed.
In his article “3 Reasons College Still Matters” author Andrew Delbanco attempts to convince his audience the reasons college is still important in order to obtain a high education, in this case three main reasons. He discusses many other’s points of view on college and why people think college is irrelevant to ones future career. People largely had similar reasons to why college is not important; the people who do not attend college mostly say that college is a waste of valuable time and or resources. Delbanco does indeed address these assumptions to why people think college is not important. As long as I can remember, I knew that college was going to be part of my future. That is because I always knew what my family expected out of me. College is not only important to me for the reason of making my parents proud, but for making sure that I create more out of myself, as well. This includes helping you get accustomed to the workload you will have in the career because sometimes you will have to stay up late to finish work and study. College will also give you exposure to special and expensive labs and technologies. It also gives you the basic information you need to know and understand. Without a higher education, I would not have those same resources.
College is important to the growth and progress of any society. Those who that attend college are the ones who value education and find it a major importance in their life. They want to obtain a successful career, and live a wealthy and happy life. Getting a college education is the key to a successful future to those who are serious and stick with it.
