Ponyboy a fictional character created by S.E. Hinton and a teenage Elvis Presley a music legend to be, can they have similar traits and qualities? They might not seem like they're similar at first glance but they have major similarities as well as differences. The similarities are the fact that Elvis and Ponyboy came from poor neighborhoods they both have a strong peer group and they both have a passion for something, Ponyboy has movies and Elvis has music, but they also have differences.
Although they share many similarities they also have many differences as well. For Ponyboy has a fear to be called out and jumped, whereas there was no mention of Elvis fearing to get jumped when he was walking down the street. Ponyboy had been attacked

Another difference is that Ponyboy grew up without parents while on the other hand Elvis had parents, the statement that proves my claim would be "In 1948, when Elvis was twelve, he moved with his parents, Gladys and Vernon, to Memphis, Tennessee, eventually settling into a public housing apartment complex known as the “Courts.”"(Guralnick, intro paragraph). The statement mentioned Elvis' parents therefore you can infer that Elvis's parents were the one who raised him and not his brothers and that his parents were around for quite some time, you can't say the same about Ponyboy as this statement that shows that he had no parents for most his life and was raised by his brother "Since …show more content…
Like the fact that both have original names you do not need evidence for this statement to know their names are original, because how many people you know are named Ponyboy or Elvis not a lot if any. Another similarity is that they are both have a passion for something as Ponyboy said " And nobody in our gang digs movies and books the way I do. "(Hinton,3). Ponyboy himself says that he digs movies at that time dig means appreciate so if Ponyboy appreciates movies that means he is passionate about movies. The passion that Elvis has is the passion of music as "Elvis' musical interests remained something of a secret his first couple years at Humes."(Guralnick, paragraph 3). Elvis had somewhat of a passion for music when he was a teen for he was interested in music. Another similarity is that both Ponyboy and Elvis grew up in poor neighborhoods a piece of evidence that backs up my claim is "In 1948, when Elvis was twelve, he moved with his parents, Gladys and Vernon, to Memphis, Tennessee, eventually settling into a public housing apartment complex known as the “Courts.”"(Guralnick, intro paragraph). I can infer Elvis grew up in a poor neighborhood because public housing, is housing provided for people with low incomes, if Elvis lived in a housing for people for low income you can infer that he lived in a poor neighborhood. Ponyboy lived in a poor neighborhood because he and his family are poor as Ponyboy said
