University of Michigan and Saginaw Valley State are two very alike schools in theory, but there are many prominent differences between the two. Even though both are located in Michigan, they fall into separate categories. They both offer varying types of programs and courses to undergraduate students. As well, They are very unlike within the cost of on campus, full time living. In addition, the campus setup of each college is a vastly different in comparison to each other. While University of Michigan and Saginaw Valley State University are very popular choices in college selection, both contain many differences as well as a handful of similarities within campuses, costs, and availability of academic programs. First off, even though the …show more content…
In similarity, both schools cost about 10,000 dollars for year round housing (Cost of Attendance(1) 1)(Cost of Attendance(2) 2). Even though this seems like quite a lot of money, it wouldn't be too far off the price of a typical apartment either way. When an out of state or international student comes in, the cost is expected to be a lot higher for that particular student than an instate resident, remotely for University of Michigan. At U-M, the typical cost of the 2016/2017 academic year was almost 60,000 dollars (Cost of Attendance(2) 1). On the other hand, Saginaw’s price for an out of state student is almost less than half of Michigan’s price. Saginaw is priced at roughly 32,500 dollars for a out of state resident of the 2016/2017 academic year (Cost of Attendance(1) 1). While they both seem to be experience prices for non residents, Saginaw is only 12,000 dollars more than an instate resident while U-M is 31,000 dollars more than an instate. That is a really big difference when you dig deeper into the numbers (Cost of Attendance(1) 1)(Cost of Attendance(2) 1). Saginaw’s overall costs are also about 8,000 dollars cheaper than U-M’s overall costs of an instate student (Cost of Attendance(1) 1). The trending theme is that both schools show off more differences than similarities in almost any area of them that you
The Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts in 1620. But by then,Jamestown,a riverside colony in Virginia, was already 13 years old. Even before the pilgrims landed, Jamestown had became a hub of the first sustained class between English people and Native Americans, seat of the representative government in the Western Hemisphere, where the Native American to arrive with chains for English people. The first diverse and democracy colony was in a country of the united state of America was known as Jamestown. The Jamestown settlers was settled in Virginia.
For the Money or for Religion The Plymouth Plantation and Jamestown were two colonies who both established in the “new world” which is now known as the United States of America. These two colonies did have similarities in how they lived, but they also came for different reasons. One colony came for religious reasons and the other came for the business and money.
In the 17th c., the Massachusetts Bay Company centered around the trade between England and the Massachusetts Bay Indians. Upon the realization that the original company charter issued by the king did not explicitly bind the company’s meeting to England, the Massachusetts Bay Company founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony during the Great Puritan Migration. The Massachusetts Bay Colony consisted of a large group of Puritans-- those who sought to “purify” the Church of England of the remnants of the Roman Catholic papacy whose name was grievously tainted in the late middle ages. The Puritans were fervently loyal to their ministers who were under religious persecution by the Church of England. Therefore the Puritans followed their ministers to
Since the founding of Mississippi State University (State), the university has changed, expanded, and developed in many ways into what it is today. It added many new colleges over the years. Student life has also changed drastically over the years, changing from a college that was organized like the military into a public school. The schools policies have also had many revisions including making it more like a public school and first accepting women into the institution. State is a public land-grant university in Starkville, Mississippi that was founded in 1878 as an agricultural and mechanical college.
Phi Slam is an organization at The University of Georgia (UGA) that is run completely by and for students. It takes on the challenge of transforming the perception of Athens as a whole in student’s minds. Athens is, and has always been a place where students come to learn but mostly to get the party experience. Most UGA students flock to downtown bars and clubs at night multiple times every week. Downtown Athens is filled with loud music, dancing, alcohol and college students just looking to have a good time.
Economy: In order for the colony to be stable, a crop that could be exported for profit and fuel needed to be grown. In this instance the crop was tobacco. Predominant Religious Beliefs and Practices: Virginians worshiped in the Anglican Church, which was supported by tax dollars.
the way it was back in 1998 in Utah is very different. A lot has happened over the years. The economy has crashed which negatively affects college students. By the economy crashing, people lost their jobs which means the government loses their tax revenues that takes from the government funding of colleges which means college tuition increases. Overall prices have sky rocketed since the year 1998.
I have visited all three campuses and attended a class there when walking around the campuses it made me imagine myself going to those school because of the environment and the majors they are known for. Above all, when I search deep inside, the campuses are top diverse schools. The size of the campuses are also where I want it to be, not too small or not to big. The location of the campus is one thing I consider when I choose one of this college as my top choice because it is convenient school where I am able to go to my parent’s house because I want to make sure that I can come to my family once a week. Even though living on campus is a requirement for me, it is an hour and a half drive from my mother house.
The colonies of Massachusetts and Virginia were a start of the new world for England. These were founded by similar people but, with their strikingly differences, grew into separate political, economic and social structures. Both settlements arose from over-crowdedness in England: people wanted a better life. Virginia was settled by men who were single and looking for opportunities and wealth. They were part of the Anglican religion.
Knowing from personal experience that the difference in price can be high, I would have to disagree. When applying for South Dakota State University in 2017, the difference in price between some rooms was around $1000. This amount of money may not seem like much to certain people, but for a student already entering into debt or from a low-income family, this could be a large sum. Therefore, students from low social classes are not exposed to people from upper social classes and vis versa.
In the last fifty years the world has gone under many changes but one that is really shocking is the escalating prices of colleges. Since 1985, the price tag in American colleges and universities has
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the colonization of America was a major race between the countries of Europe. In most cases, the countries were driven by all of the potential land and resources that America had. England was a large part of the race for American colonies. The English began to permanently colonize America in 1607, with the establishment of the settlement Jamestown. The English eventually obtained 13 colonies in what is currently New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the South in current day USA.
Why do people leave their homeland? Some people are forced out, other people leave willingly with a smile on their face. Perhaps they were being discriminated against, perhaps they just wanted to make a little bit more cash. The people of the Plymouth colony were not allowed to practice their religion in England so they came to the New World. The people of Jamestown heard about the riches in the New World and high-tailed it to the New World to get rich.
Jamestown and the Massachusetts bay colonies influenced the growth of the thirteen colonies. These two colonies opened the doors for additional colonies. In 1607 the London Charter company sent 104 men on a boat to explore the new world and get financial profit from their investments in shares of company stock (gold). When they landed they were in what is now present day Virginia they called their colony Jamestown. Jamestown was a perfect place to settle it had fertile soil and the climate was warm.
When it come to picking a college it's going off based on what the student environment, learning type, and etc. I believe another essay that ties into Liz Addison Essay is “ Colleges Prepares People for Life” by Freeman Hrabowski. Freeman Hrabowski, president of University of Maryland, in his essay he argues “echoed an increasingly common refrain that college is expensive, that students are taking on unmanageable debt and that they too often graduate unprepared for the world of work” (259). According to both Addison and Hrabowski, college is expensive, but Addison believes that there are ways around paying a high cost of going to college. In addition, Hrabowski feels that even though colleges has ways around paying high cost that either way it goes it would be a bad investment, due to, a student dropping out, or not passing a class.
