Movies Heroes Robert Ray classifies heroes in “The Thematic Paradigm” to two major categories, the official heroes, and the outlaw heroes, the official hero presented as the normal guy with a steady job, family oriented, and major believer in laws and rules. On the other hand, the outlaw hero introduced as the cowboy always around gunfire and violence, a loner, lacks respect for laws and rules. Each of them has his own character that defines his actions. Any of the movie heroes would fall into one of these categories, depend on his storyline. The two types of heroes have similarities and differences. All heroes will take action for the greater good or to prevent and evil form prevailing. Examples of the official heroes would be Superman, Spider-Man, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Examples of the outlaw heroes would be Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Iron Man. Similarities between the heroes are essential for their definition as heroes, fighting for the greater cause, the preservation of humanities, and for freedom, also have to have certain traits, courage, persistence, and high sense of duty. However, they differ in three main points according to Robert Ray, …show more content…
This shows parker as an adult accepting his part as a hero. Furthermore, Spider-Man had a job, one girlfriend, and a family, he is committed to his city, and wildly accepted as the hero, in Spider-Man 3, he said on his way to his press festival” they love me.”(Raimi). Spider-Man is loved by all even police for his role in helping and following the law, he said in Spider-Man 3” I guess you haven't heard. I'm the sheriff around these parts!”(Raimi). Some heroes are more traditional and go on dangerous adventures, like Odysseus from The Odyssey by Homer. Whether we realize it or not, there are heroes who surround us in our everyday lives. In books and movies there are many different heroes that fit different themes. However,
When asked to describe a hero, Mickey Mantle, famous baseball player for the New York Yankees, Said “Heroes are people who are all good with no bad in them” This quote shows that a hero is someone who always does the right thing and has good intentions. What a hero should look like now is someone who is loyal and brave. In Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, Odysseus proves that he is a hero when he went to save his men on “Circe’s Island.” and defeated the cyclops in “The Cave of the Cyclops.”
When the word hero is spoken, many may immediately think of a character like Superman. Superman can fly and has extreme strength, allowing him to help his city. What truly makes Superman a hero is how he puts these skills to use with his outstanding personality qualities. Odysseus, from the Odyssey, also has overlapping traits of a hero. He is not gifted with supernatural capabilities but still put in an effort to help his men and community.
D) Spider man 's cruelty anxiousness to fight his brother stems from the Idea that all that JS has should be his. As he was the Eldest had he not developed his mutation he would have inherited Wanuck from his brother, his life in the fringes cruely paralleling the life of his brother. As he is the leader of the fringes people, has a girlfriend but he is however unable to have children as all the women in his community are sterile. 9 Superstition A)
The new Marvel Movie, Black Panther, just hit the market and everyone is raving about it already. This movie hero from modern times shares the same qualities as a hero from ancient Greece; the stories of heroes use the same concepts, just with different names and settings. For example, Odysseus from Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey, shares multiple characteristics with the Black Panther. The major difference between the two is that Odysseus is struggling to go back home while Black Panther is struggling to save his home, but both concern the battle against injustice.
(14) This tells me that he was brave and he risked his life to save others. In the article “What’s With These Guys?” Kristen Lewis, it explicitly states, “They risk their lives to protect the innocent and the vulnerable, often against seemingly impossible odds.” (18) Another way superheroes inspire us to be our better selves is to have compassion about others.
Compare and Contrast: Heroism When people hear the word “hero,” Thor, X-Men, Captain America, Superman and several others may come to mind. Heroes do not have to own supernatural powers to be mighty but need to make an impact. Heroism is manifested in the actions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Beowulf by staying true to their beliefs. Nothing was able to stop their way of life.
A hero could be anyone. Heroes don’t have to shoot lasers or be able to fly. A hero could be someone who simply shows a great act or certain character trait like bravery or courage. Heroes go through a journey containing a call to adventure, a departure and a return to their homeland. A good example of heroism and heroic acts is David from the Chrysalids and Daniel from The Dangerous Days of Daniel X. David and Daniel experienced sacrifice, hardships and bravery through their journeys of becoming a hero.
“These heroic archetypes pop up all over Western Lit. They are: Stereotypical/Classical Heroes, Everyday/Everyman Heroes, and Anti/Un Heroes” (Bunting). Each type of hero is used for certain reasons; not all stories use the anti-hero and the classic hero is not always the way to go. There are many reasons why an author would choose to use a certain type hero in their work.
A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities (Hero). A Villain is a person who has evil actions or motives to harm people (Villain). In my opinion, a hero is usually the person in the story that everyone likes or looks to for help and the villain is the misunderstood or worst person in a situation. As humans we can be portrayed as a hero or villain when diverse situations occur. In August Wilson’s play, “Fences” Troy Maxson’s past, present and future caused significant traits of being called a hero and a villain in segments throughout the play.
I agree with Michael Uslan where he argues that superhero characters are a modern mythology. Although science can help explain the background of the superheroes powers, superheroes are usually regarded as a Saviour rather than a science experiment. Since superheroes are much more unrealistic, it tends towards being a mythology instead. Past mythology has iconic stories such as David and Goliath, the labours of Hercules, and the story of Moses. There are also counterparts which can be found in modern day comic books adventure.
An example of one of these is a person who would give their own life to protect another . Classical and modern heroes have their similarities, but they also have their differences. Despite how different they may seem, classical and modern heroes do in fact have some obvious similarities that may be difficult to point out. Both types are incredibly brave.
From raging hormones to feelings of inadequacy, the teenage life is a mountain to overcome. This is especially true for a teenager who has superpowers. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, the protagonist is a fifteen-year-old teenager who wants to use his powers for the betterment of mankind, but he also has to play the role of boring Peter Parker. I will first explain how Spider-Man: Homecoming is a part of the teen movie genre, which will merge into several ideologies throughout the movie that are a common trope in the teen movie genre. For example, having a feeling that you are meant for something greater, asking a girl out to a dance, finding someone older to look up to, wanting desperately to fit in with the cool kids, and rebelling against authority.
Spider-Man faced off against two of the Phoenix Five to make sure the Avengers could get to safety and finish their rescue mission. He barely got out alive. This shows that he put his comrade’s safety above his own. If it wasn’t for Spider-man’s selflessness, the rescue mission would have probably failed and the Avenger’s lives would be in even more
