Impact of Contemporary issues on the Canadian Workplace.
The Impact of computers/technology on the Canadian workplace has many subtopics that can be discuss on this paper, but base on the major of studies our group is taking at Centennial College, which is Software Engendering Technician or Technology, there are two issues to discuss virtual workers and robotic processes automation. Fist of all, virtual workers are more common now than any time before, they work for multiple companies and at the same time they are no working as a permanently staff for any company, this situation has two faces, for the companies it is an advantage because they are no paying benefits and rent or maintenance for the location where the employees are usually working,

Another example, Banks, they are closing branches all the time because people is no having the need to go to the branch any more, because most of the transactions can be done online, but what we are not seeing is the software robots that are taking those transactions at night and making all the calculations, preparing all the reports and sending all the transfers or paying all the bills. Those software robots are there and are there in silent, they never get late, or mad, the never call on sick or ask for a rice> In the other hand those robots are learning, not only from our input, but also from other machines and from their own databases, those software robots are having a real impact over the Canadian workforce and for the next 10 to 20 years around 42% of what we know as labour force will be affected not only because some job will be lost, but in addition because most of what we know as a job can be done by a software robots. In The Next Canada: In Search of Our Future Nation Myrna Kostash assesses the future of Canada, one that she argues is different from her own generation. For the purpose of this research paper I will focus on Kostash’s subsection on culture and media – pages 65 to 76. It begins with the nexus generation, the group of individuals who bridge two periods of technological popularity: Industrial and Information (Kostash 65). This group, who was born between the early 1960s and late 1970s, have a unique ability to acknowledge the past while also living and understanding new wave technology as it grew. Kostash argues that mass media became the language of the generation and their ability to understand its broadcasting was a skill – they were experts.
As with the Industrial Revolution, the Robot Revolution has too been faced with many adversaries. As in the past many claim that it would be end of society as we know it, so does Craig Lambert in “Our Unpaid, Extra Shadow Work.” Lambert argues against the automation of, what use to be, human jobs. Lambert, an editor and writer at the Harvard Magazine, argues that automation has lead to a loss of 3 million jobs (861). Lambert also exclaims that “the robots are in charge now, pushing a thousand routine tasks onto our backs” (862).
Employment does not necessarily mean earning a steady income, partaking in benefits or living a healthy, stress-free lifestyle. In fact, some people are persuaded into contract or temporary jobs because they are desperately in need of employment (this includes low pay, travelling far distances, and being without benefits). Migrant workers are people who come to Canada with a work permit but do not have residential status (Carpentier and Fiset 2011:4). Working in Canada with a temporary status makes them vulnerable because they are working for a system that does not respect the fundamental rights and freedoms of migrant workers (Carpentier and Fiset 2011:11).
It also cuts down on travel expenses and costs, this allows employees to spend time at home instead of travelling. Robotics have been introduced allowing companies to cut labour cost and add productivity. Online training can be provided online to complete on the employee’s clock and not the
Introduction Fears within the job market are typical, being forced to learn new skills, possibly being pushed out of a current position, and worrying about the economic state of the company. Employees worry about job security in an ever growing expansion of automation. The addition and reinvention of new machines, and the quick rate at which they are learning, are rapidly becoming an integral part of the labor market. During World War II, there was a boom in the invention of new automation for war time use, which led to more jobs in the United States. New inventions change the job skills needed for jobs and the way jobs work both in the past and the present.
In “Better than Human”, Kelly mentions that it will be a trend for robots to replace humans on most, or even every working position in the near future as a outcome of the development of automaton-related technology. “We need to let robots take over”, Kelly assures, “they will do jobs we have been doing, and do them much better than we can (Kelly 311)”. With his observation of the invention of Baxter, he is persuaded in a great extent that humans will acquire new jobs as their old jobs get replaced by automatons. This newly invented robot surprisingly contains several epochal features, disregarding its extremely low price compared to its predecessors. With its benefits, Baxter can be promoted easily and applied to many industries, decreasing the costs of production and even re-generating the market eventually.

Due to automation and robotics, around five million jobs exist with 300,000 people estimated to already be employed in industrial robotics.
In 2015 Ford Manufacturing Company stated that they could cut labor cost by 16% in 2025 by utilizing robots with automation to manufactory Ford Vehicles. The key factor for Ford looking at more automation was the increasing labor cost, efficient output, and the lower cost to utilize. The example the article gave was the current cost for a welder was about twenty four dollars an hour, but a robot could do the same welding more consistent and more efficient at a cost of about eight dollars an hour. (Newsweek 2015) Labor coast are an important factor when it comes to a manufacturing company making a profit, and with the emerging new technology at a lower cost, more efficient, with other potential cost saving from no longer needing benefit packages, or continuing training cost this is a key area that they will be looking at cutting labor
For many years, information technology has revolutionised society all around the world, the result of which has had significantly enhanced the lifestyle and daily duties in human society. The revolution that is currently set in is the Information revolution, focussing around ways of revolutionising the work industry. Work has changed over the past 50 years due to the changes to information technology and has added improvements to the devices we currently use on a daily basis such as personal computers, mobile devices, wireless technology and even robotics. The advances in technology are based around the analogy of Moore’s Law which states that processors and processing speeds in computers will double every two years. With these advances in technology, jobs for the people that are being born in 2015 have not even been thought of yet.
It has eliminated entire classes of jobs, while creating new and more skilled ones to replace them. Yet, AI stands to disrupt
A world of robots working in factories, markets, schools, companies, and limited amount of work space for humans that’s what is going on. The things we saw in movies and what we were dreaming is all becoming reality. Recently, technology has been improving in a very rapid pace. Technology, such as smart phones, tablets, and television, made our lives easier and more convenient. Now people can click a button and deliver food or items they want anywhere.
As technology and robotics progress, people continue to debate how jobs and careers could be affected. Robotic replacement might not have a negative effect , especially since it has helped our development to be able to survive. The process of the robotic development started in the industrial age. The industrial age is known for “a period in which fundamental changes
Instead of spending what little money they possess, they will save cash and eliminate extraneous costs wherever possible, which just leads to economic stagnation. [Worrall, 2015] If this situation becomes dire enough, then there are only three logical outcomes. Firstly, corporations could greedily incorporate robotic workers into their
In 2166, functional robots were invented for labor work, called L-bots. China was proud of its invention. But not all are satisfied with the new invention. The poor didn't like being replaced by robots. More and more people lose their jobs and they can't feed their families.
