Israel is a sign of the Jewish transformation from helpless to self independence. ''Three times a day they prayed for the restoration of Jerusalem...These problems will not arise if a home be found for them which will be legally recognized as Jewish” ( Source G). The Jewish people went from praying for the restoration of their nation to being given one recognized as a Jewish state. They were given an opportunity to rebuild themselves, their families, and their religion in a new peaceful country long dreamed of. "...shown during two thousand years of appalling and suffering… the new Jewish state, with its superior institutions had become a reality” ( Source D ). Strong people create a strong nation, these things are truly applicable to the state of Israel. The Jewish people are a strong and hardworking community. “Only those who are ignorant of the conditions of Jews and many countries of Eastern Europe would venture to assert that Jews are either unfit or unwilling to perform manual labor” ( Source D). The Jewish kind have been enslaved by several different groups of people throughout history. They are capable of large amounts hard work and physical labor, these capabilities in facts were key to the survival of the Jewish faith. “ Jewish people were building Jerusalem 3,000 years ago and the Jewish people are building Jerusalem today” ( Source A ). The Jewish people have spent almost their entire existence building up a place where they can remain safe.“ But the distinctive nationality of Jews neither can, will, nor must be destroyed. It cannot be destroyed…” ( Source D ) The attempt of the destruction of their religion has yet to succeed, it is incapable of success, the Jewish faith is incapable of
“Jews, listen to me! I can see fired! There are huge flames! It is a furnace!” (Wiesel, 23).
Imagine watching your beloved hometown being captured by your worst enemy. All the things that you love, being stripped of you one by one. Forced to wear a gold star just because of your religion, and being beat up and mistreated by your fellow neighbors. Sadly, this was just the beginning. As time continued on ghettos where the Jews’ new home.
Creation of Israel in 1948 Jews had to leave Israel in the first place because they were forced from their homes by the Roman Empire. When the Jews returned to Israel in 1948, Palestinians were still living there. The return of the Jews was a problem because it caused war to break out between the Arabs and Israelis. Wars between the two are still occurring today.
Jewish people were victim of the abuse that they received from the "Superior" Aryan race, they were sent towards concentration camp and were treated harshly and killed in cold blood, simply because of their religion, this was called the holocaust. Only a small amount of Jews survived the holocaust, a lot of stories from Jews who had suffered through the horror of concentration camp had surfaced and revealed the horror that they experienced, one of this Jews that spoke up is Joseph Sher.
Another poignant quote can also signify how and what the jews
If they weren’t able to get rid of every last Jewish person, they could instill a lack of faith in God, thus ridding the Earth entirely of the Jewish religion and
The Holocaust was a horrible tragedy in which the germans caused near 6 million Jewish casualties. It was an attempt of mass genocide, from Hitler’s perspective he was cleansing the world of inferior peoples. At first he attempted to deport the Jews. Soon, countries refused to accept them. Then to contain them and use them for labor.
For one, just in reading the quote, it can be seen that the slightest scrap of decent news can keep the Jewish people positive, because they have hope. On a deeper level, however, it is apparent that, as a result of
The Jews of the Second Temple period, occurring between 538 BCE and 70 BC, were exposed to many outside cultures that threatened their existence as a political, spiritual, and peaceful people. Politically, the Jews were governed against their will by many foreign leaders such as the Roman monarch Herod Agrippa and the Greek king Antiochus. Spiritually, the Jews were deprived of many of their religious traditions and pushed towards alien beliefs and practices. The Jews who had tried beforehand to be a peaceful people, now had to resort to fighting and revolting to live in harmony. The responses of Jews in these various generations were dependent on whether they had a strong and courageous leader who led them through these challenging times
Holocaust Reflection: Hierarchy in Concentration Camps When I think of the Holocaust, I think of constant fear, horrible genocide of innocent people, and terrible living conditions. For twelve years, people were imprisoned for their faith, political views, or where their love lied. When learning about the terrible tragedy in middle school, I was under the impression that every person held prisoner in the concentration camps was treated the same, inhumane way. However, that assumption is completely false. While exploring the provided websites, I read things that I had already learned about the Holocaust in middle school.
There are many events in history but Holocaust left a permanent scar on the face of history. The event soaked in blood and tears of innocent would be unforgettable. Holocaust also known as Shoah (in Hebrew) was a genocide that took lives of millions of people from different backgrounds. Approximately 1 million Gypises were killed, 1.5 million mentally and physically handicapped people were victims of T-4 program, but Jews where the primary victims and 6 million Jews died in holocaust (Neiwyk and Nicosia). The Holocaust took place between 1933-1945.
Although the Jews were treated like nothing I think they still felt some sort of value to their life if they would risk their life to try to
Israel gained its territory in wars but a big part of it was from the six-day war in 1967 where Israel conquered the east bank including Jerusalem from Jordan, Gaza strip and Sinai from Egypt (after a few years they gave it back to Egypt in order to have peace), and the Golan Heights from Syria (HISTORY: The State of Israel). The idea of a Jewish country was formed a long time before the Holocaust happened, due to the Holocaust the U.N, which made the decision of creating the country, agreed to the idea because of the discrimination of Jews. As a result, they thought that they deserved a country of their own. Since Israel was formed it participated in seven wars and two Intifadas.
The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). But, although there were all those countries they were all part of one larger group called the Nazis, were the ones who were killing all the different denominations of people. (Bachrach 58).
