Many building in the world are very inefficient in energy use. This is very big concern seeing how very important is to conserve energy. Most of the United States Energy comes from non-renewable sources such as fossil fuels. So to better energy conservation, ill be looking to energy audit the Nike Store in the Wisconsin Dells to see ho we can improve our energy just from local building. From this Audit I be able to conduct the problems from the store and create solutions from the store to make it a very energy efficient building by looking at the electricity use, heating/cooling use, and the solutions to the problems.
The Nike Store is at the mall were connected by many other stores sharing the same energy source from the city. Already much

Much energy is being used from it. Most rooms in the store feel overly warm which means more heat energy is being used. Thermostat during fall season averages at 71 degrees Fahrenheit which is above the average for a building. The heating and cooling is at 24/7 use and typically uses more energy at weather gets much cooler or hotter. It uses a long duct system to transfer heating and cooling throughout the store. Observing the duct system, I noticed high amounts of dents and cracks which creates leakage and slows down where heating and cooling needs to go. Much of the building has insulations, but by entrances and windows it lacks. The doors and windows have standard weather stripping but have many leaks for air to escape through. Much of the stores windows are covered by signs which prevent the store from absorbing natural sunlight which provides heat. The about 45% of the store uses rugs or carpets which helps absorb heat, while the rest uses tiles. The bathrooms lack heat conservation, with hot water constantly used from sink. Sometimes the front entrance is left open which draws the stores warm or cold air, which is big energy waste. Recycling is at high use in the store, much of the broken down card boxes and other recycle material is strongly recommended on being put in the recycling container every day. Some recycling material is misplaced and not thrown away …show more content…
There many solutions to the energy problems. For the store lights, the should be all be replaced to fluorescent lights. The benefits of fluorescent lighting are it uses about 25- 35% of the energy compared to incandescent lightning. It also lasts 10 times longer from 7,000 to 24,000 hours. This will improve daylighting at the store. The store should also avoid most of the cities power and instead uses solar power as it main source of electrical energy. This will significantly decrease energy use while also benefiting lower electricity bill. One big thing that needs to be done is better habits in terms of energy conservation, such as shutting of the TV when your done watching it or unplugging your devices when it done charging. Unplug unnecessary stuff that’s not being used. Even if you aren’t physically using it, some stuff can still use electricity and still decrease energy. All light switches should be replaced with sensors. This is very beneficial for it keeps lights shut off when no ones are there and prevents people from leaving the lights on. Though you can’t cut off the 24/7 use items such as the fridge, it should be monitored on its wattage uses to see if you can replace it with lower wattage using device, such as replacing a 250-watt TV for a 100-watt TV. Computers should also be powered down to reduce energy

Additionally to the energy reduction, the company is mainly focusing on minimizing the greenhouse gases, which was particularly scaled down by 3.8% since 2014 and replaced their 1886 vehicles by newer eco-friendlier models (Rogers Communications Inc., 2016, p. 41-45). Furthermore, to support water reduction initiatives, high-efficiency water fixtures and appliances were installed in the facilities (Rogers Communications Inc., 2016, p. 48). Not only Rogers decreased paper consumption by 21.3% in 2015, it more and more promotes recycling activities (Rogers Communications Inc., 2016, p. 46-47). For instance, in 2015, 63 516 devices and 634168 kg of cable set-top boxes and modems were collected for recycling (Rogers Communications Inc., 2016, p.
Not only is more electricity used but also there is more money that has to be spent. Even though daylight savings promotes the idea of energy conservation, it uses more energy. Daylight savings should not have further use because it uses more energy than it is said to
Another discovery explains how energy consumption levels are not consistent throughout the entire daylight saving period. Evidence reveals the need for energy is high in the spring transition, but the highest increase is in the fall. Consumption increase ranges from two to four percent, in the fall. An increasing demand for heating and cooling and decreasing demand for lighting are tradeoffs persistent with the new discovery (Source F).
Supply Chain/Distribution Channel Analysis of Nike 1. Introduction Nike is an American multinational corporation whose main sales includes footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services. It is one of the world’s largest suppliers of athletic shoes and apparel. This Supply Chain/ Distribution Channel Analysis will go into detail on Nike’s previous supply chain dynamics, it’s effects on Nike’s brand image and how this led to a dramatic change in Nike’s logistics, which has now put them in a position of market dominance whilst ultimately increasing their profits. It will also elaborate on how Nike’s drive for sustainable innovation, throughout its supply chain, has evidently reduced their costs and increased growth, whilst also benefiting
The first two biggest part of energy consumption is both about heating. There are only two ways it can be explained, either heating is self need more energy to reach the temperature, or Australia is cold, so they have to use heat. However, Australia is always warm. As a result, the only way to explain the massive heating consumption is that electricity cannot be transformed to heat
3 MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY 3.0 INTRODUCTION Energy analysis of buildings helps to simulate the amount of energy used in a building. It is very important as it helps to discover and ascertain new ways of conserving energy and ensuring energy efficiency of building components. Building developers, construction engineers are increasingly interested in creating more energy efficient reason, and for this purpose whole building energy simulation programs are being used to determine strategies that save energy and are cost effective. The most common way available to perform this building energy analysis is to implement building information modelling(BIM). Building Information Modelling(BIM) consists of a digital representation of physical and functional
Starting with the Waffle Trainer to the Shox columns developed in 2001, certain technologies can only be found in Nike shoes. Since it early stages, Nike research facilities had evolved to the present 13,000 square feet building designated to the constant improvements of technologies. 4-Procurement: Nike is seeking to product innovation and sustainable growth and that requires new ways in order to continue in business. Nike is working with all its partners all over the world and the establishment of
Nike has sustained positive revenue in a worldwide market focusing on a healthy and active lifestyle. Nike has managed to shift their Manufacturing unit into Asian country’s were the labor is cheap to be exact wages of USD1 an hour were so little as one-tenth of those given in the US. No wonder that a pair of shoes which were sold for $150 in 1991 is made by indoasian women who were 58 cents a day but the situation has started to change and due to that reason the company has managed to minimize cost of production and not only double triple the the revenue as comparing to the year 1996. Finally we come up with promotion and advertising campaigns which became a grand success not only because they introduced sportspersons , they also introduced innovative ideas and wise strategies and the image of the Product, due to this process we can say that Nike targeted a huge no of audience and created a Prestigious brand which will be easily available for average people . they also came up with great tag lines such as ‘there is no finish life’ , and in the 1980 they changed it into “ JUST DO IT “ these quotes of tag lines are considerd very simple but very attracting and extremely encouraging for the customers .
This is due to Nike gets its merchandise generally from foreign manufacturers. To operate profitably, Nike need to get good value on products and supplies and, in turn, offer good value to its customers with accessible solutions. Publics: Many colleges and universities, especially anti-globalization groups as well as several anti-sweatshop groups
In the year 2010, it spent almost $800 million on ‘non-traditional’ methods of advertising. • Nike has chosen to target the seventeen year olds more as research has shown that the 17 years olds spend 20% more on shoes than the adults. • It has decided to do away with the dependence on the ‘big budget top-down brand campaigns that usually celebrate just one hit. • Its advertising and marketing campaigns are widely split between advertising agencies that specialize in recent technologies and social media. • It has chosen to focus more on the production of ‘cool stuff’’.
Therefore Nike’s new priorities is making sure that their factories were not taking advantages of its workers anymore, and to ensure for a competitive wage and a safe work environment is provided for each worker. So, some ways to overcome these problems are: a) They need to establish a worldwide monitoring system of their countries spread all around the
