English Composition Class Analysis
Professor Hepler, In this semester’s English Composition class, I learned about many new forms of writing and how our past can affect our future literacy experiences. Before taking this class, I did not know what a discourse community is, or the important role it plays in our everyday lives. I also did not know the impact of the rhetorical situation on the genre of our writing. Genre is another aspect of this class that I learned a lot about this semester. I did not previously think genre could refer to anything other than genres of books (i.e. horror, fantasy, nonfiction, fiction, and romance).
