Jesus' journey on earth can be related to hero’s journeys. There are many common patterns in hero stories. One man studied and picked out the patters, this man was names Joseph Campbell. After years of study on this he finally found the several basic stages that almost every hero has to go through. A popular film, Star Wars, was found on the basic hero stages says the creator George Lucas. Jesus also has a hero's journey because he has an ordinary world, a call to action, cross the threshold, meeting the mentor, challenges, temptation, dark inner moments, a final battle, and a return home.

The mentor is the person who watches over the hero. Who could help, save, hurt the hero. The mentor could give a supernatural power to the hero to help defeat the villain. Luke 6:12 is where Jesus meets his mentor when He goes on the mountain side to pray to God his Father. God gave Jesus strength to endure the pain and suffering he would soon go through. Jesus did not want to do it but it was his destiny and that is what true hero's do. God wanted the best for Jesus, and he also wanted the best for us. By doing what was best for us, Jesus had to die for us so we would not have to. The mentor not only helped Jesus but he also helped …show more content…
The hero usually has to fight the temptation and usually comes out on top and beats the temptation. In Matthew 4:1-11, the bible tells us about how Jesus was tempted. Jesus was on a mountain, fasting for forty days. Satan came to him and tempted his three times and every time Jesus said no. He knew it would be a sin and not pleasing to the Father, God. Satan told him to makes stones turn into bread because Jesus had not eaten for forty days and he was very hungry. Jesus turned down the offer and told Satan that the Lord will provide for him. Each time Jesus was tempted he over came his temptation and did not fall for the
Joseph Campbell’s, The Hero’s Journey, appears in the foundation of modern hero tales, such as drama, storytelling, myth, and religious rituals. The first step in The Hero’s Journey is the Departure phase, it’s where the hero has an unusual birth or early childhood and is forced to leave their everyday life to face the challenges that await them. Next, is the initiation phase, it’s where the real challenges and trials occur. The hero has a mentor or guide who gives them a special weapon or advice so that when the hero faces the darkest part, the temptation to give up or quit, they will transform and achieve their goal. Lastly, the return phase is when the hero returns home and is able to recognize the experiences the hero had in the other world.
The Hero’s Journey is a cyclical journey commonly used in literature. Joseph Campbell was the first to realize this pattern is frequently used in stories, movies, and fairytales. The cycle contains twelve significant milestones that occur as a hero explores an unknown special world. This cycle resembles a clock in a few ways. The twelve hours represent the twelve stages.
He was stupid for thinking he could get through it alone, I mean maybe some people can with training and hard work, but Christ did this without thinking, the only real help he got was from reading books and taking advice from different authors, and fictional characters, but even with that “help” he still didn’t make it
There are many traits that heroes can demonstrate in stories. The two stories The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, and “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell both have heros in them. Connell’s story portrays a hero named Rainsford, who crosses a mysterious island where humans are hunted for fun, and he himself has to run for his life. Twain’s book follows a young boy named Huck, who has run away from his father, and his older friend Jim, who is a runaway slave. Jim is more of a hero because he is more self-sacrificing, unafraid of negative consequences, and more determined.

but he didn’t want to die so then that would go against the 10 commandments "Thou Shou Not Kill" and this kind of goes with something like murder.
Hero books are popular in today 's day and age because people can idolize the hero for the sacrifices and changes they 've made. In Joseph Campbell 's research, he discovered that books with heroes in them often follow the same set of stages. A reoccurring event in these books is the hero faces challenges that they 've never faced before. David from 'The Chrysalids ' and Ryder from 'The Witchlanders ' are heroes from two different worlds and under very different circumstances go through their journeys and become heroes by demonstrating departure, initiation and the return proving that the characters are

Why? Why was I cursed to live this life of rage and pain? Why did our ancestor cause us to be cursed with generations of life-liquid thirsty pain and rage filled lives? Why does one man’s actions define a generation to follow? We weren’t even given a chance to be different from him.
Every hero archetype has to experience the journey. James Campbell, a scholar who studied mythology across the world defines archetypes as people such as a mother figure, a father figure, a hero, a maiden,or a trickster. A hero is a person who has curiosity, humility, and is courageous. In addition, a hero goes out of their way to reach their goal, even if that means putting their life on the line for others or for a set accomplishment. Furthermore, the hero archetype must experience the three stages of the Hero’s Journey which includes The Departure, The Initiation, and The Return.
The Odyssey and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone are both examples of the hero's journey. Both Harry Potter and Odysseus leave home and their families for a long adventure, and they both have a supernatural aid who is a lot of help to the heroes in each of their journeys. Both heroes also learn lessons along the way then return home, and regain their rightful place in society.
In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, a character did all these things and that’s why he’s a hero. Johnny is the character in the book that is a hero because he saved pony boy from Bob, he saved the kids from the burning church, and he risked his life for us friends and some random kids. Johnny is a hero because he saved Ponyboy from Bob. It was heroic because Johnny knew he could get in a lot of trouble for killing Bob to save Ponyboy. He knew that he might of gone to jail or get the death penalty.
We often think of heroes as people of violence or perhaps you think about comic book heroes with their many impossible talents. When I think of heroes; I remember the many bible stories that I grew up with. Whether it be Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego or David and Goliath, or even Sampson; all are heroes in Christ. Many stood out from the crowd and dared to be different. We are coming into a time when many shall perish for their belief as in the bible times and dark ages.
When creating a story, many great minds will use a pattern to enthrall readers and shape them into a hero. Established by Joseph Campbell, The Hero 's Journey is the iconic template many utilize to plan their imaginative tale. The Hero’s Journey is the cycle in which the protagonist ventures into an unknown world where he or she will go through a series of adventures and learn moral lessons. Heroes in ancient myths such as Homer 's epic poem, The Odyssey follows this formula since the protagonist, Odysseus, faces hardships throughout different regions that ultimately change his once arrogant character. Throughout Homer 's monomyth, Odysseus undergoes challenges that teach him the importance of humility.
