The following paper evaluates the impact of government programs on illegal drug usage and distribution, as well as illegal drug usage and distribution effects on citizens. Illegal drug usage and distribution dates all the way back to the 15th century. But, the 21st century presents the biggest rise and drug usage in distribution. As of the rise in illegal drug usage and distribution, countermeasures have been placed by the government, such as classes in school. Focusing on the youth is efficient, but, if the government focused on middle age groups drug usage and distribution would lower even further.

Illegal drug use and distribution has been dated back to the early 15th century all the way up to the 21st century. Illegal drug use and distribution is something that's spread rapidly throughout America's history, especially in the 21st century. Certain illegal drugs are extremely addictive, destroying functional citizens of society. Billions of dollars have been spent throughout the 21st century attempting to combat drug use and the crime it causes. Drug use and distribution rates decrease when precautions are taken early and focused at age groups between eighteen and thirty, this allows the economy function more more smoothly and increases the standard of human …show more content…

Spent trillions of dollars focusing on young age groups, prevent them from buying and using illegal drugs (UNODC). Focusing on young age groups is an effective method but there are more effective methods (UNODC). The government could enact more drug use related programs directed at older age groups between 18 to 30 (UNODC). Government programs focused on drug use of older age groups would lower the drug use of older age groups, this would then allow middle-aged citizens to be independent of drugs and benefit the economy by not being dependent on drugs (UNODC). Independence of drugs would then lower illegal drug usage and crime rates
