It’s human nature for people to claw their way forward through bad or worse just for even a chance at more power. We gamble our money away for a chance to hit big. We sacrifice important things for our own gain. We take risks. A risk working in our favor opens a door in our mind, and we keep taking them. We fly ever closer to the Sun, like Icarus. We take more chances, until we fail. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth is corrupted by his lust for power over the course of the play. He starts out as a morally just knight, and ends the story as a psychopathic tyrant who is too far gone to even consider his horrendous actions. Macbeth is a greedy murderer and will do anything for power, But he wasn't always this way. Macbeth let the wyrd sisters' prophecies dictate his life. He killed his innocent people to conserve his power because of what the prophecies foretold. Macbeth is responsible for the traffic ending because he is the one who killed everyone, or had them killed and let the prophecies control his life. One reason why Macbeth is responsible for the tragic ending is because of his greed.

Macbeth, learning from the witches that he will become king, decides that the Thane of Cawdor is not enough and, with the help of Lady Macbeth, schemes to murder King Duncan. Macbeth becomes so struck with greed that he gets upset when Malcolm is named Prince of Cumberland. "Noble Banquo, That has been no less deserved, and it must be known no less to have been done so. Let me enfold thee and hold thee to my heart." (1.4.28-33) This is Duncan talking to Banquo about his reward for risking his life and fighting for the prosperity of Ireland.

Macbeth’s greed shaped him into a monster, killing Banquo, Macduff’s family, all in order to keep his throne, this greed is what led Macbeth to his coffin, ultimately getting him killed by Macduff and Malcolm taking the throne. As for power Macbeth has become the king of Scotland, the king is the pinnacle of the mortal level in the great chain of being, this power has led Macbeth to do countless crimes in order to keep it, this was all Macbeth’s ambition but when he got engulfed in it it was the beginning of his downfall.
Greed for power has always been evil and even made a saint turn into a demon. As the quote goes “All power tends to corrupt and an absolute power corrupts absolutely” (unquote), which is true not only in the fictitious stories but also in real life and Shakespeare, th9e greatest writer ever known, has always been in habit of making fictitious character come alive and Macbeth is no exception to the rule. The character of Macbeth has two sides, one which is wholesome while other been dubious. He symbolized great ambition but went overboard and in the process not only became corrupt but also became a killer. Macbeth reflects great strength but within he has his own weakness and thus good over took evil resulting in its downfall and finally his own death.
Greed is oftentimes a powerful force. It can control one’s thought process and drive them to do things they never would have before. Macbeth is a stand up guy at first, and King Duncan thinks very highly of him. He awards him with the title of Thane of Cawdor after his bravery in battle. Macbeth seemed to be the ideal warrior that was submissive to the authority of the king.
King Duncan announces Macbeth as thane of cawdor due to the present thane being revealed as a traitor and therefore, executed. As King Duncan makes his decision about the new thane he claims, “No more that thane of cawdor shall deceive our bosom interest: go pronounce his present death, And with his former title greet Macbeth.” (I,ii,64-66), which could be foreshadowing Macbeth’s fate. Duncan finds Macbeth to be worthy of the title and that no thane of cawdor shall deceive them yet again but as it seems, that is not true. Macbeth appears to be a great man but really he will become a murderous and cruel man.
Macbeth shows that he is willing to kill King Duncan because he is interested in the witches prophecy, after they tell him that he will become ‘Thane of Cawdor’ and then the King.
Before Macbeth had thoughts about killing the king he thought to himself. ”if chance will have me king,why chance may crown me,without my stir. ”(pg.336). He decided to take action instead of letting fate do it on its own. Not only did the three witches tell Macbeth he was going to be king but they also told him he was going to be thane of coward.
