Well you probably haven’t wondered that, but that is the story of Odysseus. Odysseus is an epic hero, a larger-than-life central character, someone who will always try to help people in need. While trying to get his family back he faces numerous obstacles that put him and his warriors in a life or death situation. In the epic, The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus shows both guile and bravery. Throughout the epic, Odysseus demonstrates guile on multiple occasions. One example of Odysseus using his guile is when he was escaping from a Cyclops He used sheep to cover him and his men so they could escape.
Odysseus uses his knowledge to outsmart others, especially when he defeats the Cyclopes. With twelve of his strongest soldiers, Odysseus risks the lives of many when he encounters the Cyclopes. “‘Here, Cyclops, try this wine--to top off the banquet of human flesh you’ve bolted down.” (388-389, 222).
