At first thought, the word hero brings up the idea of sacrifices. Firefighters could be known as heroes, they risk their lives to protect citizens. Though not all heroes sacrifice their lives, some heroes solve difficult problems for the benefit of others. In the story, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, the author writes about a group of boys who have both struggles and heroic titles. Hinton shows that heroism can come in different forms, big or small, life-changing or heartwarming. Darry Curtis shows that he is best-considered a hero through his definite acts of sacrifice and care.
Darry Curtis revealed his heroic trait through his acts of sacrifice. Darry may seem tough on Ponyboy but throughout the book, the reader starts to notice what Darry
When people think of someone in their family who provides for them many think of their mom or dad. Although, that is not always the case. Darry is the older brother and provider to Sodapop Curtis and Ponyboy Curtis in the book The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton. Darry’s parents died in a car accident so he was left raising his two younger brothers, which are sixteen and fourteen. Although Darry can be harsh, he still cares deeply about his brothers and their lives.
An Underestimated Hero Not many people have managed to gain the title of being a killer as well as a hero, but Johnny Cade has. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about the maturing of a group of boys in a gang called “Greasers,” while a rivalry between their gang, with another gang called the “Socs” is taking place. The story takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the 1960’s.
Teenagers need to have love and support. Teens need something solid to stand on. Love and support are necessary because teens need someone by their side to give them those little boosts that help them through their early lives. Teens need to be supported and loved so they grow up being a nice and friendly person. Teens also need limits to help guide them throughout their early lives, if their parents dont, teens can end up like bob.
What is a hero? Is it a being or idea classified by tights and capes or is it something more? A hero can be anything their society makes them out to be, which is the case in Etheridge Knight’s short story, “Hard Rock Returns to Prison.” A hero can also be a reassuring mother of a frightened child, as shown beautifully in John Hope Franklin’s short story, “The Train from Hate.” In both stories, the theme heroism plays important roles in their respective plots.
As George Bernard Shaw once said, "you cannot be a hero without being a coward". In The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton many characters think they are cowards but act like heroes and have heroic attributes in their own ways. Three characters are heroic in The Outsiders are Sodapop, Darry, and Dally. Soda pop is a hero because he keeps everyone happy and stops his brothers fights. Soda is always the middle man in fights so he is the one who has to brake them up, like in chapter 3 where Ponyboy got home really late and Darry was yelling at him and Soda had to step in and defend Ponyboy.
Also, later on in the novel the church on Jay Mountain catches on flames and as soon as it comes to his knowledge that it was most likely his fault he races into the church to save the kids inside. This clearly displays characteristics of heroism from stopping Dally from inapporpriately harassing the girls, stopping the Socs from drowning POnyboy, and saving the kids in the church carelessly risking his life is a significant sign to me of
Darry Curtis from S.E. Hinton's the Outsiders is both a Greaser and Soc. Darry Curtis is part of a gang that consists of his brothers Ponyboy the smart and Soda Curtis the handsome, Two-bit Matthews the shoplifter, Johnny Cade the troubled, Dallas Winston the thug, and Steve Randal the car thief. Darry Curtis, the fatherly figure of the gang, has an average physical features, a weird role, and some, interesting personality Darry Curtis is a Greaser, except not your typical greaser.
What is a hero? A hero is someone who is courageous and is willing to step up and fight when the time is right. A hero fights for is for the betterment of others, and not only to benefit themselves. Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally are all heroes in "The Outsiders," by S. E. Hinton, although Johnny is the greatest hero of them all.
“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of their strength, but by the strength of their heart.” A hero is a person that does something to help or they can also save someone 's life. One example of, being a hero is Darry because he takes care of Ponyboy and Sodapop. Another example, of being a hero is Johnny when he saved Ponyboy and the little kids. A further example, of being a hero is Ponyboy when he also saved the little kid’s life and when he wanted to take the blame for killing Bob.
A hero is anyone who makes the right decision to sacrifice for a person in need. For example, without heroes like firemen, wildfires and house fires would spread across the nation, costing lives and loss of worldly possessions. Firemen stand strong, risk themselves, and protect all for the well-being, safety of others, and personal property. In addition,
The teenage years are monumental in most people’s lives. Some remember their teen years as a time of making great memories with friends, a time when they felt like they were thriving. Others, however, do not have that experience. Many teens struggle with the feeling of not belonging and of trying to figure out who they are and where they fit into the world and their spheres in particular. In The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, she writes about the ways certain characters feel like outsiders and how they deal with those feelings.
Heros. Who are they? They are not the ones that are fighting the imaginary villains. Heros are the ones who save others emotionally and physically and do whatever it takes to do the impossible. The Outsiders, a young adult fiction novel, by S.E Hinton, has multiple acts of heroism throughout the novel.
In “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton, we are introduced to a wide range of characters whose actions and personalities are widely affected by the environment in which they grew up in. This is a very pervasive theme in the book, as the main element of the story is the rivalry between the street gangs “The Socs” (short for Socials), and “The Greasers' ' In Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Socs are depicted as a gang of well-off rich kids who aren’t afraid to show it off, and the Greasers are the polar opposite of this, most of the Greaers grew up impoverished, without one or both of their parents, or grew up in abusive households. This dynamic and disparancy between the individuals of the gangs leads to some interesting interactions between the characters.
Heroism is a concept repeatedly seen throughout the history of literature. The term “hero” actually comes from the ancient Greeks. Their idea of a hero slightly differs from that of today, but the concept of possibility is the same. Heroes are necessary because they not only give people hope and inspiration during tough times, but they also define the limits of our aspirations. They are often used as symbols for us of all the qualities we would like to have or look up to.
Some people think that the heroes always have super powers and are usually men. This statement is not always true. Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes, plus they are willing to do many things. A hero is a willing sacrifice themselves for the greater good; they are people who are brave in the face of danger, and heroes are not always men, but men and women can be both the heroic figures. Heroes are willing to give up their life for another’s needs.
