Why do people live in certain areas? There are many reasons people live in certain areas such as the availability of food, water, and jobs. The type of weather can also decide where someone will live. The ease of transportation in an area can also be a factor. People even live in an area because that is where their ancestors settled. Most populated areas are near water. 1.( Many of the oldest and largest cities in America are located on harbors that join the ocean.) This is where you can get many goods and supplies because of the water transportation. The access to goods, supplies and transportation leads to more jobs.
