Fahrenheit (symbol °F) is a temperature scale originally proposed in 1724 by the German physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686–1736), after whom the scale is named.
This original scale has been subjected to some revisions and adjustments reaching the current Fahrenheit temperature scale on which 32 °F is for the freezing point of water and 212 °F is for the boiling point (at sea level and standard atmospheric pressure). The normal body temperature has been considered in developing the scale that required an adjustment of normal human body to 98.6 °F.
