Animal Farm by George Orwell is a book well-known for being a satirical allegory for the events that occurred during the era of Joseph Stalin. The story contains many unique elements from plot to characters to figurative language that make it a must-read book for everyone. The book has basic elements of a typical book including book’s structure--it starts at the exposition of a conflict and the events are displayed in chronological order and a third-person omniscient point of view. In this perspective, the audience is aware of everything all characters think, say, and do. Having a third-person omniscient perspective gives the reader the opportunity to have knowledge about all of the feelings and reactions of the characters during specific events. This is important in Animal Farm since the characters act very different from each other. However, the plot begins to progress when a pig named Old Major, sparks a desire to revolt against the humans running the farm. Unfortunately, he dies and his passing causes the rising action where the characters start clashing; two of the characters, Snowball and Napoleon, fight to be the supervisor of the construction of a windmill and ultimately the new Old Major of Animal Farm. Subsequent to the rising action, the form of the plot becomes somewhat unclear; there are many events which can be labeled as the climax. Chapters 5-8 can best be defined as the climax as the conflicts are the most severe including mass executions, propaganda resulting in false beliefs, and deception of the animals from the pigs.
