Imagine that you were considered freaks like Kevin and Max because of your freakish attributes. One super tall, strong and dull and the other short, frail, and intelligent, as one they are Freak the Mighty. Throughout the story Max and Kevin show their individuality, but they are also similar in the fact that they are both considered freaks. Even though Max and Kevin have somethings that are similar they are different in strength, and personality. These differences help complete Freak the Mighty because they have things that the other one does not. Kevin and Max are similar and different in many ways like the way that they are both awkward, but only Max is tall, their differences complete each other. Throughout the book Freak the Mighty, Kevin and Max are unique in their own special ways. One way that Kevin and Max are similar is that they are both freaks. In the book Tony, Loretta , and Max, refer to Max and Kevin as freaks. They are also both socially awkward …show more content…
Max may be a little dimwitted, but he has a very strong body and will try and stick up for Kevin when he needs help. Kevin is very short and frail, but has a very strong mind. Kevin helps Max get his thoughts together. In the story Max and Kevin go on many adventures together as Freak the Mighty. Freak the Mighty is a 9 foot tall warrior who goes around slaying dragons and fools. One example of when they need each other is when Kevin and Max are running from the Tony D and his gang. One quote that shows an example of this idea is “... they never knew it was Freak who rescued me or his genius brain and my big dumb body” (Philbrick, Page 41). this quote shows that Max may not think much of his part of Freak the Mighty, but his body combined with Freak’s big brain. They are stronger together than apart. They need each other to complete each other. Without one of them Freak the Mighty would not be
Max help Kevin out a lot because when they were in the street way but Max learned to stand up for himself and Kevin because he started to care about him and himself as well. He started to protect his friends and not be afraid of anyone. Just started to care about people and Kevin kept going on. Max would do anything for Kevin because he knew that Kevin had a problem like in the lunchroom when Kevin started choking and Max saved Kevin's life. It just shows how much Max cares about Kevin as a friend to him and not just a person but like a brother.
However, there are many clues in the story that show that Kevin and Max are not troubled by their disabilities and that their teamwork is useful. One example of how Max and Freak worked together was when they were watching fireworks. Freak couldn’t see the fireworks because he was tiny, but with the help of Max, he was carried by him, and placed on top of his
When growing up, it is hard to learn who the right people are, but someone must find the correct friend. Tom (Aka Miracle Wimp) is a highschool student who is constantly getting made fun of and bullied because he's not popular. He tries to go and find the right
Some of the similarities have already been listed, but there are still many more. Such as how both of these families are poor, and both have little education. Now why they have little education involves different reasons. With the Ewells, they have little education because none of them have ever completed school.
They were both going to California from New York. Another similarity is that they both had an accident. They had it at just around the same time. The last thing they had in common was that they both were going a bit crazy and didn 't have enough sleep due to the thought of the hitchhiker.
Freak the Mighty is a book about two boys who both have disabilities. Freak or Kevin has a disability with growing and Max or Maxwell has a disability with learning. They were in the same day care class when they were young, but then Freak moved. When they were entering 8th grade Freak’s family, his mom and himself, moved back next to Max’s family’s, his grandparents and himself, house. They became friend and took care of each other disabilities.
Jon Krakauer has a high amount of respect for Christopher J. McCandless; not only because they have many similarities, but because McCandless searched deep for the meaning of life and did as he pleased. In the book, “Into The Wild,” Krakauer not only tells the story of McCandless, but also of his own life, and how he has been shaped into his own. Krakauer had a deep love for the wild, just as Chris did. Though, the two did not do the same things, they both pursued their passions which made it easier for Krakauer to relate to Chris. Once climbing a mountain, Krakauer had ran into trouble, just as Chris did on his journey.
There were a lot of things that were the same in the book and movie Freak the Mighty. There also was some difference. Some of the difference weren 't really a big difference, so some people may not have noticed them. Some of the other differences were big differences so most people probably noticed them if they paid attention to both. Some difference I recognized were that in the book when Max and Kevin were getting the purse out of the sewer they hooked it to a paper clip and string to pull it out, in the movie Max went in the well to get the purse.
Unlike Max, Freak is a boy who is physically disabled and has trouble walking. Freak is very intelligent. In the story when Max and Freak are together Max usually carries Freak on his shoulders. In the exhilarating novel “Freak the Mighty”, the author Rodman Philbrick uses plot and conflict to express one of the books themes, mental and physical forces can work together. Throughout the story Max and Freak use their differences to get themselves out of many different
Harrison Bergeron and Guy Montag are two similar characters. They both are against the world and go against the overpowering governments. Montag goes against all the firemen and Harrison goes against all the handicappers, this type of conflict is called man versus society. Some other characters that are similar are Mildred and Hazel. They are both boring wives to that do nothing and are lifeless.
One thing they have in common is that they both had to struggle in the past. Bo has been mistreated by his father, and Shelly has had problems with abuse from her family members and being sent away from home. These problems are pretty different though. Shelly had been physically assaulted by her father. Another character named Elvis in the
Max went from thinking that he did not have a brain until Kevin let him borrow his, to realizing he had more of a brain than he had ever known. Kevin may have been small, but he was intelligent and rescued and saved Max. Kevin guided Max away from Tony D. Max was big, but without Kevin he wouldn’t of known where to go and Tony D. would of probably stabbed him. “What do we do now? I ask…
Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick has objects or places that could be symbols for larger ideas. Each one has a completely different meaning. Whether that be to the author, the characters, or to the reader. Many of these objects include the ornithopter, the dictionary, and the empty book.
Writing Assignment Freak the Mighty The quote I chose was “ No one stays like they are. Everybody is always changing”. I agree with this quote because I see people changing all the time.
At the end of the summer in Freak the Mighty, Freak and Max get to go back to school. Minus the fact that he has never been in one before, Max is put into all advanced classes so he can be with Freak. The reason they are put into classes together is because Freak helps Max write and learn vocabulary by making him look up words he doesn’t know in a dictionary. Freak also helps the teachers understand that Max does know the answers but, he just doesn't like to speak in front of the class. Both in school and out, Max helps Freak with mobility by carrying Freak on his shoulders.
