“It is not wisdom but authority that makes a low.” Thomas Hobbes’ quote reveals that the world is all about authority and how powerful people are. In other words, to be able to rule, wisdom is not essential. However, authority is crucial. This quote relates to George Orwell’s Animal Farm as it represents the theme of power by the pigs that use propaganda, intimidation and false informations to take over the farm and to control the animals.

Napoleon obtained power on the farm primarily by elimination. He believed that if eliminated Snowball, another pig on the farm who stood in between him and his goal of ultimate domination, then he

Society is an aggregate of culture, religion, and social interactions shared by a group of people. In George Orwell’s fictional allegorical novella, Animal Farm, The animals reform themselves by rebelling against humans. Their new governmental system eventually lead to further corruption. Vowing to eliminate the terrible inequities of the farmyard, the renamed Animal Farm is organised to benefit all who walk on four legs. Animal Farm hit a nerve at the right psychological moment when the pro-Soviet era was beginning to unravel. Whether it was the allegory of revolution or totalitarianism, Orwell’s novel operates upon historical satire, a political treatise, and a fairy tale perspective. Due to the fact that the novel functions as an allegory on multiple levels, it is difficult to choose soley one. On a verbal level, it is a children’s story about an animal rebellion among a farm. While, on the other hand, it acts as an animal story and allows for compassion to be shown toward the suffering and oppression of the vulnerable animals.
The Use of Propaganda in Animal Farm by George Orwell Propaganda is defined as misleading or biased information spread for the advancement of a cause. In George Orwell’s Animal Farm, Animalism became a very influential structure to Animal Farm’s society, but the ideas and beliefs strongly portrayed in the beginning of the novel ultimately reformed in the end, which occurred after the continuous manipulation of Napoleon and his comrades. Set in place by the pigs themselves, the 7 commandments of Animal farm were centralized around the total absence of human nature, hence their constant use of the word animalism. Although this may be true, under Napoleon's leadership, the rules had begun to alter which in the end made it seem as though the pigs themselves were humans. This was often overlooked by the other animals on the farm until the very end when the sudden realization hit them that, “it
Animal Farm, A Dystopian Society Dystopian societies involve bloodshed, espionage, and countless tragedies among the citizens of the society. The goal of creating a successful society is very difficult to accomplish due to the amount of criteria a society must meet to become successful. A utopia is a society where everything is perfect and everyone is happy, while a dystopia is a society where everyone is under complete control and the government is often conniving. Animal farm can be portrayed as a dystopian society due to the farm’s cunning, but evil, leader and the multiple traits of dystopian societies that can be clearly seen on the farm. The propaganda used by Squealer in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, as well as the frowned upon dissent and false fantasy of the farm being a utopia, prove that The Animal Farm is a dystopian society.
“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again: but already it was impossible to say which was which.” Benjamin was infuriated, and finally, when the animals returned to the barn, he spoke up, “Comrades, I have someone important to show you, so meet me behind the barn at midnight.” Later that night, the animals made their way to the back of the barn, without making a sound. When they arrived, an oldish looking horse was staring at the wall where the one commandment was written and suddenly turned around: it was Boxer! Shocked, the animals, with jaws wide open, listened closely to what Benjamin and Boxer had to say… “Comrades, we have been around a long time and have seen a lot of things, and from

In the Novel Animal Farm at the beginning of the story there is a pig named Old Major. He talks about a dream of a rebellion to overthrow man. In his speech he says that if the animals overthrow him they shall not adopt the way he acts. This means that if the animals succeed in the rebellion they shall not act like man. Some of the bad things he does are drink alcohol, he killed animals and wore clothes made of animals.
I ended Animal Farm in this manner because it teaches people not to believe everyone they talk to. Most people are good people and can be trusted but, other people have to be looked out for. In this story, the animals should have waited awhile and made Snowball earn back his trust before believing in him. Before, when Snowball and Napoleon were in charge together, Snowball was the main one who was making many of the decision. However, he did let the other animals have a say which was different from Napoleon's view were no animals have a say in anything.
