Gold Miners During the Industrial Revolution
“The Mining Boom”
“Bonanza!” was yelled when a large amount of valuable gold or silver was found. Gold was mostly found in California and Colorado around 1859 during the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes. This new deposit of gold and silver was found throughout the west about 10 years after the California Gold Rush. Colorado found a good amount of gold and silver at Pikes Peak in 1859. Soon the west was filled with ne’er-do-wells ready to strike it rich. Western mining soon became to do horrible things to the environment though. Rock dust from drilling went into river beds that formed silt deposits downstreams which flooded towns
