I have been able to work side-by-side with a Pathologists ' Assistant since day one and because of this, I fully understand their role in the medical society. I owe a lot of what I learned as a grossing technician to them because of their guidance, input, and examples. The more I asked them questions and the more I watched them work, the more captivated I became by their role and realized I wanted to be in their position. As a result, I believe that my close working relationship with the Pathologists ' and Pathologists ' Assistants, as well as the exposure and knowledge I have gained by working in the department will help me succeed, particularly in Loma Linda University 's Pathologists ' Assistant program. Loma Linda University is a good fit for me a few reasons.

Upon reflecting on this experience, I feel like I am more confident in handling the situation should it arise again. Reflecting on it has made me realise that not everything I did was wrong and has helped me to explore what I need to improve on. Reflection is important in the nursing profession as it allows us to think about our actions and talk about how we could have carried them out differently (Johns and Burnie, 2013). Reflection plays a big role in developing the student into a nurse (Barbour,
Additionally, presenting a monthly or quarterly reflection on a patient that a health professional found challenging and presenting it to their peers will prompt reflection and group collaboration. A strategy that I found very effective in an IRF was the use of a reflection board that was put in a private area to discuss opportunities of improvement within team dynamics and was reviewed once a month with the team leader. This provided a less formal opportunity for members to give suggestions and voice concerns as well as give positive feedback to their members for their good work. Implementation of these strategies will
1. INTRODUCTION OF THE REFLECTION Reflection is mindful, deliberate consideration to scrutinize one’s thoughts and actions in order to better oneself. (Donovan, 2006) In this reflection, I will be discussing a particular positive health behavior I would like to implement in my life, and the results of different interventions I pilot-tested. The flow of the reflection starts with describing the positive behavior change with rationale, interventions I took, how I felt, evaluation and analysis of interventions, a summary of what I have learnt about behavioral change, and lastly, what I plan to do if I encounter a similar situation. According to Bagay (2012), life-long reflection aids in nurses’ growth and improves patient care.
Reflective practices as well as self awareness are very important for health care professional to develop their skills in providing high quality care (Bulman and Schultz, 2013). I was able to carry out nursing intervention for Anne effectively and provide sufficient health promotion advices. My academic work and the previous placements along with the self reflection enabled me to reinforce my knowledge and clinical skills, but more importantly, it developed my self confidence level. My efforts to seeking assistance and assessment of my skills enabled me to step up my skills to become more independent and I was able to confidently complete my nursing interventions for Anne. I was also able to provide the rationale for the nursing interventions that I offered to Anne and this helped to improve the effectiveness of my nursing practice.
It is obviously useful to get feedback from others but it is also useful to give yourself feedback. You know your strengths and weaknesses even better than those around you. It also helps your problem-solving skills. When we give feedback, we tend to focus on the negatives and by analysing those issues, you are improving your ability to solve those
To become a reflective social work student, I need to be able to undergo self-reflection. This is a process of conducting self-assessment and observation. Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle influence user like myself to self-reflect and more importantly it encourages users to develop an action plan. In relation to caring for this patient I displayed strengths in implementing appropriate nursing actions, adapting to change and communicating effectively with the patient to provide patient centered care; however, I discovered weakness such as, a lack of confidence and patient teachings. I believe that the nursing actions I created for my patient this week were well thought out and my ability to adapt to my patient’s changes and mood to implement my actions greatly improved my patient’s overall health. Comparatively, this patient was my first patient I administered medications to and it was evident that I was nervous when explaining the medication’s purpose and actions. However, since then, with practice and my cheat sheet I feel more confident
Particularly when undergoing healthcare research, a competent reflective practitioner repeatedly reflects on experience and is capable of spective reflection, continually learning from experience to the benefit of future actions. At times, perspective or retrospective reflection can be conducted in consideration of the context and nature of activities. The purpose of this particular critical reflection demonstrates my personal and professional development through the King’s Research Fellowship. Of the different reflective frameworks, I structure my reflective process on Gibbs’ reflective cycle as it allows me to explore new and different ideas and approaches to doing activities, and hence is an aid to

For example, a teacher being reflective on her own practice. This allows the teacher to see what is and isn't working, if they are impacting children or missing the mark; reminds them why they doing an activity and the things we want the children to take away from it. For me it refines my skills and makes sure I am teaching to the children as I then where and where I need to modify or reteach things. As you reflect, you will better understand your roles as a
While reflecting with my grade level team, we share successes, challenges, and ideas for improvements. After reading the lecture on reflection my understanding of reflection was expanded, and I was able to identify strengths and weaknesses in my reflective practices. Although I was familiar with the importance of reflection in teaching, the lecture helped me to understand why reflection is important for all professionals. I learned that reflection is important in any profession where there are situations that arise that do not have one “right” solution.
