How do SATs impact students' mental health?
A student's mental health is one of the most important things for them to be able to focus in school. SATs are intended to measure a student's academic abilities, but they can also have a significant impact on their mental health. The pressure to perform well on a standardized test can increase stress and anxiety levels in students, which can have negative consequences for their overall well-being.

The pressure to succeed can be overwhelming, especially for students who are already struggling with mental health issues. The fear of failure and the lack of control over the exam can contribute to very high stress and anxiety levels, making it difficult for students to perform at their best. It's very important to understand that SATs can impact students' mental health by increasing stress and anxiety levels in students.
SATs stress students out and cause depression
Many students feel that their entire academic and future professional careers depend on their Standardized Testing scores, and this can lead to stress and depression. The SAT can be a time-consuming and emotionally draining process, requiring students to spend days, months, or even years preparing for the exam. All of these factors tend to lead to depression and other mental health problems.

SATs are draining students
To perform well on the SATs, students must dedicate a significant amount of time to studying and practicing which can be physically and mentally draining, especially for students who are already juggling other academic and extracurricular commitments. The SAT is often a lengthy exam that can take several hours to complete. Sitting for an extended time can be physically draining for students, especially if they are not used to sitting for long periods.
According to Addie Reynolds with Ray-Pec now, Standardized tests take a “big toll” on students' “mental health”. Many students have sleeping problems, get headaches, and have attendance issues. Students' mental health could already be pretty bad, they don't need something to make it even worse.
Many colleges/universities do not require Standardized Tests as they did before. SATs are basically an optional test now. You could take the SAT and choose not to submit your score because some colleges/universities or the place you wanna go to will not require
Over time, the SAT’s format has changed to better measure a student’s ability and potential. Excessive stress is put on students to do well on the SAT’s, and causes them unnecessary strain. As college admissions become more and more competitive, the need for higher test scores has increased, despite fatal flaws in the SAT test itself. Although the SAT is used by thousands of colleges and taken by millions of students, many students' scores do not reflect their true abilities, and therefore the SAT test is useless.
Students leave school stressed and full of anxiety and its actually making a negative effect on their everyday life. Students get so overwhelmed that harming themselves is in the picture. The state needs to realize that students aren’t giving their 100% and they will never know their actual academic skills. So why give standardized test? Teachers need to focus on the future and teaching them skills they need in their everyday life.
Some students might not have the privilege of attending a good public school; they also may be extremely smart, but their grades do not reflect that. The SAT gives these students the opportunity to demonstrate their intellectual capabilities by allowing them to take an exam that measures their aptitude on a standardized scale, giving them a shot at their dream school. The article states that when high school grades do not suffice, the SAT is another way to demonstrate smarts (Cooper). Not only does this show how the SAT is beneficial for students, but it also shows how helpful this could be for colleges.
