Marketing has evolved over the years just as much as technology; the two go hand in hand on how businesses choose their marketing tactics. As technology has evolved from minimal internet usage to the internet being utilized daily from Facebook, twitter, and Google searches. Marketing has changed as well from door to door marketing, mailed fliers, to Facebook ads. What has not changed is the goals of both; to reach consumers the fastest all while being finically responsible. Approximately 20 years ago businesses would utilize door to door marketing by their employees and utilized the US Mail Service, this type of service required many manual hours along with costs related to utilizing mail services. Other ways communication was delivered was via telemarketers calling households in regards to products, TV commercials at times, and placing ads in local newspapers.
As technology and times have changed marketing techniques were required to change to keep up with consumers fast pace lifestyle. Consumers want readily available information that is quick to their fingers while on the go, this is where technology supports marketing. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville Illinois utilizes is ads placed about their services or colleagues and then the posts are shared by colleagues. This service costs the hospital nothing and their colleagues are their own marketers. It incentives colleagues to shares the communications to assist in increasing patient volumes, recruit colleagues, and recognized above and beyond colleagues.
