1. Cite an article relating to your study using APA format (it can be the article your group used or a different one). How does the techniques used in this article relate to the techniques used in your group project? (1-2 paragraphs) The techniques that we used were very similar to a study we found. The study that we found observed the same variables of body composition as we did. They observed arm mass, trunk mass, and total lean, just to name a few. Their participants also performed at least 2 scans, which is similar to our project. However, they did 3 scans in 1 day, and the participants were fasted before they arrived for his or her scan, and they consumed a meal before each of their participant’s last scan. In our study since we were working with a college aged population, and they would be walking from various places around campus to come to the exercise physiology lab, we decided to have them rest for 5 minutes before getting an analyzation of their body composition. These were the only findings that related to our project. …show more content…
If you had the ability to change your iDXA group project, how would you alter it and why? (1 paragraph) I would like to have included a meal before observing the post- scan after exercise, to see if there would be an effect of a meal before a post- scan. I would have also liked the participants to fast before coming into the lab, then perform the aerobic exercise, and then a pre-scan would take place and observe the effects of the total fat mass and percent lean mass. After the participants participate in the pre-scan, the individual would eat a meal of his or her choice and a post- scan would take place to again observe the total fat mass and the percent lean mass. 3. The iDXA has several scan capabilities and has many uses. How do you see this technology applied in your future career? (1-2
Recommendations • Continuous patient education should be incorporated in to clinical activities at all clinic locations. This is to enlighten patients on the activities that can adversely affect the accuracy of body composition estimation, when carried out just before visit to the clinics. This will help in maintaining industrial standard. • Specialists taking the body composition estimation should be trained on the importance of adhering strictly to the acceptable protocols of patients check-in and preparation for body composition estimation.
1. Create an applied research project. a. Identify what type of applied analysis you would be conducting (process evaluation, outcome evaluation, needs assessment, or combination of any of these). This is a needs assessment analysis that targeted an old model of issuing identification cards to abuse victims trying to leave their abuser, which was problematic because of the time it took to issue the cards and the methods it employed requiring the victims to prove who they are. This assessment, evaluation of an old government model was to determine if the new model was more effective than the old model for this particular program and if the officials tasked with issuing new and or replacement identification to the women and their families
On the northern slope of Hawaii's Mauna Loa Volcano, six scientists have been living as though they are inhabiting Mars. The reason; to see if the diet they are on will be enough for a real astronaut to survive on. For four months, Hawaii Space Exploration Analogue and Simulations (HI-SEAS) participants have been studying how their food supply has effected their energy, weight and of course, their appetites. The mock-astronaut's new diet has resulted in minor weight loss for every member. This, of course, could be from the frequent exercise that the scientists did not partake in while at home.
“We should eat less of any particular actual food” (51). People consider that they can lose their weight just by reducing their total consumption of fat and completely undermining the portion of other food they consume. To remain hale and hearty,
The use of BMI is inaccurate, due to its inability to include the information of one’s muscle mass and content of a person. The use of BMI is so common it is very difficult for many people to understand the fact that it has a great possibility of being wrong. BMI only considers using only a person 's height and weight to find the

In the article "The Hunger in Our Heads", by Gretchen Reynolds, scientists from the University of Alabama experimented with thirty-eight college students to see if high blood flows could reduce the urge to overeat. The experiment found that half of the students who exercised for fifteen minutes consumed less calories than before. However, the other half of students who did not do any intensive exercise consumed more calories. The report does seem plausible. However, there were limitations such as the experiment only took place during lunch time and the exercise only involved running on treadmills.
The subject who did 25 push-ups or more had a lower standard deviation showing that the data was close to the mean and therefore the results were more reliable. While subjects who did 25 push-ups or less had a higher standard deviation, which shows that the data was not close to mean and therefore was less reliable, compared to the other category. The t-test also confirmed these results and demonstrated that there was a major difference between the mean change in pulse rates between subjects who completed 25 or more push-ups in contrast to subjects who completed less than 25 push-ups. However the p value was p <0.05 shows that there was strong evidence between aerobic and anaerobic capacity.
we have a tendency to count our calorie intake, the calories we have a tendency to lose on a treadmill, etc. However, simply dynamic our thoughts regarding our physical activity looks capable of adjusting our bodies. chamber attendants clean on the average fifteen rooms per day, every area taking between twenty and half-hour to complete. (The physical activity concerned meets the MD General’s recommendation of a minimum of half-hour of physical exertion per day for a healthy mode.) However, most chamber attendants believe that they are doing not get regular exercise; and lots of them believe that they are doing not get any exercise in any respect.

Equipment used in this study included a stadiometer with a mechanical counter (Holtain Ltd. Crymych, Dyfed), a weighing scale (Sartorius ISI 10 AG Gottingen, Germany), an incline pull up bar, stepping boards and an IPhone application (Intervals). During the collection of bio data, the stadiometer is used for measuring the stature of the subjects and the weighing scale is used for measuring the weight of the subjects. The incline pull-up bar was for the subjects to grip and the stepping boards were for them to rest their heels on
Introduction To date I have completed three classes and one group facilitation exam for this semester. The aim of this assignment is to demonstrate my personal and professional learning for the duration of the module. It will discuss the definition of group work; how I planned for my group exercise; it will outline my learning as a facilitator and observer for a thirty minute exercise. I will use Bruce Tuckman 's five stage group development model to outline the stages of the group process.
