The Industrial Revolution’s effects can be argued either way for the better or the worse. Many people have their different opinions. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative effects for the society because of the horrendous living and hazardous working conditions, it was actually a positive thing for the society. Industrialization’s positive effects included economic growth, new inventions that increased productivity, and a higher standard of living helped people live better and more efficiently.
A positive attribute to the Industrialization would be the economic growth it sustained. Mary Paul, a teenager who worked in a textile factory claimed to live an ideal life at her new job. “I have a very good boarding place,

Many teenagers worked in factories comparable this one to produce products for people to use increasing economic growth. However, some teenagers were overworked and weren’t as excited to work as Mary was because they weren’t treated fairly. (Factories in these early ages could produce more exports, gathering more money for the business. The output of these factories was substantial, creating a higher demand for products, causing the prices to lower) (Document 3). Observed in that picture is a textile factory which produced clothing for the citizens to use. Although the factory compelled pollution, it had a greater impact to help economic growth in the long run by weaving clothing. The American Nation admitted that “Railroad travel was fast. A graphic submits the idea of the assembly line. (The assembly line created more jobs for people and produced more automobiles. Because it took less time to make five than it did to make one, many were being created, demand was higher and the prices lowered enough that middle-class people could purchase them) (Document 4). The assembly line was a new idea that increased labor, producing more machines. More automobiles were manufactured and bought by people that made their life much easier. However, the machinery was dangerous and laborers worked for unfair employers. “You are surrounded… with an infinite number of comforts and conveniences which had no existence two or three centuries ago and those comforts are not only used by a few, but are within the reach of almost all men. Every day is adding something to your comforts” (Document 9). Every day, new machines and devices were developed for the satisfaction of the people who used those contraptions. They weren’t only for the rich, but more individuals who didn’t have money could manage to buy something. On the other hand, many of these simple machines began polluting. “Our houses are better built, your clothes are cheaper, you have an infinite number of domestic utensils” (Document 9). Tools were being created, which contributed to the building of stronger houses and more clothes were generated that provoked things to become cheaper and life to become
Along with the distance, families were separated by long working hours. “[Before] dawn my labor drives me forth tis night when I am free…” (Document 2) Besides children, factories also liked women workers because they were cheaper than men and were afraid to complain. Women worked 12-16 hours a day and six days a week. “A stranger am I to my child; and he one to me.”
The Cottage Industry, also known as the Domestic System has shifted to the Factory System, but how did this change affect its workers, and what were the major differences? In an interview with George Brookings, a factory owner, we will discover these changes and impacts. Brookings is a cotton and wool factory owner, who was able to experience the transition from the Factory System to the Domestic System. When Brookings was questioned about life using the domestic system, he answered, “As a child, my family and I were accustomed to the Domestic System. Textile making was done in the comfort of my own home, and my family and I could work at whatever pace we desired.
Another Positive characteristic that arose from Industrialization was that it created more jobs. To provide a home and fend for your family at time in history, it was essential
These inventions were good for factory owners since machines did the same job as the employees at a faster rate and machines don’t get paid. By using machines, factory owners don’t have to worry about anyone getting hurt nor do they have to worry about how crowded their factory is. The Industrial Revolution didn’t only occur in the United States, it also occurred in Britain and Western Europe as well. The First Industrial Revolution merged into the Second Industrial Revolution around the 1850’s, when technological and economic development gained momentum. (Industrial Revolution)
While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of a neglected quality of life, it was actually a positive shift
The conclusion of the eighteenth century and the dawn of the nineteenth was a time of great growth of industry in America. There were many positives of this growth, and many negatives. One positive were that everybody has more luxuries; another positive was that a lot of money came into the US. There were many severe negatives of the new growth of industry. Two of these were horrible factory conditions, and child labor.
Child labor was a big issue involved with the Industrial Revolution. Families in the lower classes had jobs working the machines in factories. Usually, each worker got payed about $4-5 a week. Document 1 is a conversation that took place and it was kind of like a job interview and William Cooper, the worker, described how harsh life was in the factories. He began to work in factories when he was about ten years old and he worked from 5 am to 9pm.
The American Industrialization was in the late 1800’s making many things to improve the economy. The American Industrialization was caused by multiple factors, some of the factors included a growing population, a willing work force, high tariffs, among many more. These effects made people willing to work at lower wages so they can get jobs and buy American made goods. There were many outcomes of the Industrial Revolution, both positive, like improving people's lives, and negative effects, like exploitation of workers. The positive effects of American Industrialization is how it make work cheaper, employed thousands of workers, and improving people’s lives.
Industrialization was a time in which the lives of Americans were changing drastically. It was an era, that help shape America to the form that it is today. During the Industrialization, many may argue that it was a time where our people and land was treated horrible. But, this time period led us to greater and farther things that we didn’t know was possible. This Revolution was a step towards a dramatic and positive effect to America.
One of the negative factors regarding the Industrial Revolution in our society is child labor. Children were taken out of there homes to work in factories and farms.
The Industrial Revolution, lasting from the late 1700s until the early 1900s, was possibly one of the greatest time periods in this world’s history. This time period caused people to think more and dream bigger. From these big dreams rose up inventors, entrepreneurs, and business owners. The Industrial Revolution brought many new inventions and production processes, but along with great new things come great terrible horrors. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of the new production methods and what they produced, it was actually a negative thing for society.
The groups of people that were most changed by these new innovations were factory workers, middle-class urban residents, and midwestern farmers. There were many effects that these creations had on these groups of people. These innovations allowed travelling and the transporting of goods to be easily accomplished, made communication between others simpler and more efficient, and allowed for better and safer ways of lighting to be established. Automobiles allowed for travelling and the transporting of goods to be easily accomplished. The creation of the automobile was extremely beneficial for midwestern farmers, middle-class urban residents, and factory workers.
Industrialization did bring good things to America, such as work to a lot of people, even though you would be payed about $1 to 2$ a day. Although industrialization was beneficial to some people, it still created some problems in the United States, including strikes made by workers. The industrialization era between 1865 to 1914 impacted workers greatly with their work conditions and their wages, along
Effects of the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was an important event in history. It brought about many positives during its time. For instance, kids were well fed, educated, and clothed. There were plenty of negatives, as well. One very sad example was the machine injuries that happened to both children and adults.
Something that was good about the industrial revolution was that there was more workers and people could get payed more. Things that were bad was that little kids could. That’s bad because kid get hurt for example, for kids who worked on farms would ride on horse rakes and easily fall off and get crushed. Kids would get overworked after working 12 hours a day.
