The 20th president was forgotten and not spoke about much because of the 6 months he served and by reading this book you can learn more about Garfield than any history site can offer you. The facts which Millard included might have been seen as unnecessary, but all the facts which were included were necessary and important to the story of Garfield’s presidency. It addressed the wound Garfield had in his lower left back and “what was perhaps as stunning to the doctors as the location of the bullet was the infection that had ravaged through Garfield’s body”(268 Millard). The first chapter in the book grabs the reader's attention immediately by talking about an invention that changed the world today but it also talked about, Garfield and introduced him as a wise nobleman. This would grab a reader’s attention of the reader because they would want to find out more about Garfield and who he was as a person and what Bells part in the story was.
