Jaime Escalante was born on December 31, 1930, his legal name is Jaime Alfonso Escalante Gutierrez. Escalante was raised around teachers who are his family members. I’ll be talking more about Jaime’s Escalante’s childhood. Also about his different careers and what he does now.
Jaime Escalante is the second child out of his four siblings. Jaime and his siblings were born in La Paz in Bolivia. His father is Zenobio and his mother is Sara, his mother and father were teachers who didn’t get paid enough for being a teacher. Jaime and his siblings were raised in a town that’s in Quechua Indiana village. The Escalante’s were living in three rooms rented by a doctor. Jaime kept doing the same thing he was doing when he had five students. He still had after school classes and Saturday classes. His students took the Education Testing Service, only fourteen kids took the test. The ETS believes that his students cheated because they had the same questions wrong. The ETS wanted his students to retake the test and most of them didn’t want to but agreed to do it. Jaime believe that the reason that the ETS believes that Jaime students cheated was because his students come from a poorly educated school and also because they were Latinos. When they retook the test all his students passed for the second time.
Jaime Escalante had made a movie based on how his teaching career went, his movie is called “Stand and Deliver”. He decided to leave Garfield High School once his kids finished school and moved to Sacramento to teach there. Jaime movie “Stand and Deliver” was released in 1981. While he was teaching he was making his movie. Jaime Escalante is still teaching at Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento, California.

Lucha Reyes was a Mexican singer and actress, who was popular in the 1930s and 1940s. In history, there have been many versions of Joaquin Murrieta; some people describe Joaquin Murrieta as a real-life Robin who stole from the rich to give to the poor, and others describe him as a fifty robber who robbed for his own benefit. The truth is that Joaquin Murrietta was not good but not bad either; he was just human and just did what he needed to survive.
Thomas Wolfe was born on October 3, 1900, in Asheville, North Carolina to a stonecutter and a boarding house owner. Wolfe’s father, William Oliver Wolfe, whom during his travels, felt the addition of an “e” to his last name was necessary. He adopted the “e” and since descendants have kept his alteration. Mr. Wolfe married twice before marrying the mother of his eight children. Julia Elizabeth Westall was nine years William Oliver Wolfe’s junior and birthed Thomas Clayton Wolfe at the age of 40.

Macario had a great idea of fashion at a young age he always wanted to have a career in fashion. Macario is from Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico and went to school for fashion in Marangoni, Milian. After graduating, he worked with a known Italian fashion designer, Gianni Lo Giudice.
` Born November 15th 1992, Miguel Angel is a 23 year old man whom graduate from Royal Palm High school in the year 2010, and currently attends Palm Beach State College. Before becoming a military man and serving in the United States Marine Corps, as an artist Miguel designed multiple dashing pieces of art which are still famous today; he is a wizard in the kitchen, tossing, slicing, and combining rare foods to produce exquisite masterpieces. A man known to some as a consolidator, to others a mad scientist, to the ladies a heartbreaking Romeo, but to me, I just call him my brother. From a very young age my brother was a natural leader, being a leader signified that he was also very proficient in guiding and being able upraise those around him. If there was ever a situation that lead to someone being oppressed or mistreated he would be ready to defend and protect that person's honor.
On November 15,Officer Jeronimo Yanez was charged with manslaughter and various gun charges due to a shooting at a routine traffic stop. On July 6, almost 5 months ago, Officer Jeronimo Yanez pulled over Philando Castile, with the assumption that he was involved in a robbery that happened a few days prior. Mr. Castile had his girlfriend and his child in the car when he was pulled over. After handing the officer his license and registration, Mr. Castile that he was armed, but there was a permit for the gun with his papers.
The documentary relates to the United States in the way of that the public school system is broken. Government and political officials have repeatedly promised to correct the public school system and have failed to deliver. Programs such as the no child left behind act and standardized tests have been created to correct this system. But these programs and tests actually hurt this system since they are based on a narrow curriculum not measuring an individual student 's skills and talents. Other issues which are mentioned in the documentary and affect our country are teachers unions and tenure.

His paternal family, the Peraltas, are of Haitian descent and Dominican. Sosa 's father died when he was at seven years and supported the family by doing awkward jobs.
Americans, when they think of Civil Rights probably think of the Civil Rights Movement. During the civil rights era African Americans fought to be treated as equals by fighting segregated schools, for their voting rights, and for their basic right that every American has today. To say that education is our civil rights movement of today is inaccurate. Antonio Alvarez’s narrative “Out Of My Hands” focuses on a financially struggling family, but proving that they can succeed. David L. Kirp’s article “The Secret to Fixing Bad Schools” reinforces the idea that even though a community might be poor, that doesn’t have to reflect the quality of education students receive.
How does the memoir on Always Running is related to the Chicano Movement? The memoir Always Running reveal about the transformation nature of the Chicano Movement on young Latinos in the 1960s and 1970s by showing how the students started to act and how they felt when they were treated bad at school. Students started to get involve in to school activities to make a change. In the poem “ I am Joaquin” by this person Rodolfo, states that “ I am Joaquin. I must fight and win this struggle for my sons, and they must know from me who I am…”(5).
Stand and Deliver was a drama movie made in 1988 that was based on true story. This is the story of Jaime Escalante, a high school teacher, who successfully inspired his dropout prone students to learn calculus. In the class that he is assigned to, there are some students that did not speak English, however he knows Spanish very well. Also the students are way below their grade level in terms of academic skills and they also have a lot of social problems. Throughout the year, Mr. Escalante engages all of his students and totally turns the school upside down.

In this time of violence and gangs, Erin Gruwell was able to change education forever and save many kids lives. During this time education was changing and it wasn 't for the better, kids were dying on the streets due to gun violence and because of the gangs they were involved in. Luckily, Erin Gruwell was able to implement teaching tactics for integrated schools that are even used today. Her tactics included, rewriting curriculum, treating students as creator of knowledge, creating classroom community, and teaching self realization.
