Jeffrey Dahmer: Milwaukee Monster A serial killer is someone who commits a series of murders. Usually, behind these murders, there is little to motive, but rather a mindset. For a serial killer to be considered a serial killer they must kill three or more people at different times, not a mass murder. A serial killer is psychopathic tendencies that try to hide to appear normal to the public. Many serial killers are survivors of childhood trauma, sexual abuse, or emotionally distant.

He was arrested for the first time in September of 1981 after he was discharged from the army. Following being discharged, he killed his first victim in his father's home. After his arrest for disorderly conduct, he spent ten days in jail, received a sixty-dollar fine, and was sent back to live with his grandparents. In less than a year he was arrested again, and he received another fine of fifty dollars. Within the next seven years, Dahmers’ arrests and charges began to lead to what his murders would stem from. Dahmer hung out at local bars almost every night because of his severe alcoholism. After luring them in, he would follow by making them take nude pictures and involving in sexual activities with the victims. His way of murder was very gruesome. He would turn his victims into “zombies”. He would do this by drilling holes into their skulls and dismembering them. Drilling holes in the victim's head allowed the skull to be cleaned easier. He also dismembered his victims for easier disposal. He would even pose them and take pictures. He was well known for the way he stored his victims. After dismembering them, he would store them in the freezer or refrigerator and dissolve the rest of the body parts in the large blue tub of acid. On the night of July 22, 1991, Milwaukee enforcement officers took notice of a man running and stumbling down the street. When confronted, he said that a man had threatened him with a butcher’s knife. After arriving at Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, Dahmer allowed the police to search the apartment. When the officials entered, they were hit with a putrid odor and had discovered various body parts scattered about his apartment that belonged to 11 of his victims, as well as Polaroid pictures of his victims' post-mortem in indecent poses. He remained this way up until his first murder, when he was only 18. His first victim was a hitchhiker named Steven Hicks. Dahmer took the young man back to his parent’s house where he proceeded to get him drunk. As soon as Hicks tried to leave, Dahmer killed him with a blow to the head from a barbell. He dismembered the body and buried it in plastic bags behind his parent’s house.

Jeffery Dahmer was an American serial killer in the 80s Dahmer killed 17 young men over the course of 13 years. Jeffery Dahmer was a child who was neglected by his parents, due to his father working continuously and his mothers addiction to drugs; therefore, he felt like never received any affection from either of them. The only bonding he and his father had was dissecting roadkill in the garage, thus teaching his son skills to utilize on his victims. By the time he was 18, Dahmer was already struggling with his personal desires, his hidden homosexuality, and fantasy for murder; however, this fantasy did not become reality until June of 1978 when Dahmer picked up a hitchhiker named Steven Hicks and murdered him. One of the survivors of these attacks, recalls that he saw a mattress stained with dried blood and a knife with a blue plastic handle, which immediately let him know that something was wrong (Mathews and Stevens, 44).

Jeffrey Dahmer was a notorious serial killer who liked to pick up men in bars telling them he was a photographer and he wanted to take their picture. A serial killer can best be described as a person who commits a series or murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. A disturbing fact about serial killers is that most of them should be eminently identifiable. Serial killers commit their acts specifically in one place, therefore, give the residents of the community, its police force, and even their neighbors ample opportunity to find out what they are. The fact they are not caught is attributed to three factors. The first being the characteristics of the victims, which in Jeffrey Dahmer's case he prayed mostly on gay men.
Jeffrey Dahmer has become a household name. Dahmer was a serial killer, famously known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal”, he murdered seventeen victims, with his crimes ranging from 1978-1991. Dahmer is known for targeting boys and men, dismembering them, and sometimes eating his victims. There are multiple movies, books, and tv shows about Dahmer and his psychopathic behaviors.
