(6) In the southeast corner of the scene near the door of the classroom is a tipped over garabage bin with a clear bag lining the inside. Also inside the garbage can, there is a white glove near the opening of the bin, covered in stains that are a light reddish brown color. The glove was also partially covered in a brown paper towel also full of the red stains. Both the glove and the paper towel should be collected in individual plastic bags that will be sealed and signed for investigators. The first technique was to graph the correlation between the body’s advanced state of decomposition, and the pattern of daytime and nighttime temperatures. This technique let to the conclusion that she was killed from October 6 to 16. The second technique was to get soil samples, one from beneath the victim’s body and the other from an uncontaminated control sample. The results narrow the window to October 12 to 15. The last technique used was relatively new and involved using a freshly killed pig and using this pig as a “body double.”

A couple college students looked at the river and saw something white in the water, that was not a hydroplane. The students walked closer and closer and discovered a skeleton. There have been ten long-unsolved slayings of young women in Los Angeles in the 1940, who all had some type of cut mark on their body. Dr. George Hodel was a surgeon which makes him a leading suspect. “In February 2013, the team conducted an extensive search of the doctor's home, where Buster (detection dog) had previously detected the scent of human decomposition in several areas of the basement, according to reports.” The doctor was known to have had a room in his home which was locked off and no one except him was allowed in. Since Dr. Hodel is a surgeon he would have knowledge of how to make the incisions on Short’s body and how to clean up the blood from the body.
When found, her body was unrecognisable according to the Police Officer in charge of the investigation, Inspector Wayne King. Within three days (Thursday 26) of the body being discovered,
The only thing on Sam’s pants was one significant stain, but other than that they were blood free. After much research, Sheppard and Cooper found evidence that two of the autopsies contradicted each other. "A report read, 'Scrapings removed at autopsy from underneath the fingernails of Marilyn Sheppard: No significant hairs or fibers noticed’… but an earlier twenty-eight-page trace-evidence report described red material, blood, hair, a plant fiber, a dark blue wool fiber, a red wool fiber, fine blue fiber, and thin pieces of wood” (1). As the report had stated, there was no significant hairs or fibers noticed, but the twenty-eight-page-trace-evidence report had a long list of fibers and other significant samples. The long list of different fibers, hair, and the thin wood pieces could have been the key to solving who really killed Marilyn.
