For most people, a shrug and a reminder that 1976 is but a distant memory would suffice, as marijuana has lost its stigma. For a Republican? If anyone proves it, Kasich is finished. Republicans are all about hating anything good for America, and legalized marijuana is on that list. They bust out the old talking points of the fear campaigns they love so much. “Gateway drug” gets ignorant heads nodding. The results of a year of success in Colorado do not seem to matter. American ideology when it comes to a harmless plant doesn’t matter. It’s the devil. Plain and simple. If John Kasich is one of those bad guys Republicans think deserve 30 years in maximum security prison for an ounce of pot, he’ll lose every vote the base had left for him and
“My purpose is to be president,” Kasich responded. “And those who are wondering about Donald Trump, if I go head to head with him in Ohio, I beat him by 18 points. I intend to go all the way, I intend to be the nominee, and I intend to beat Hillary Clinton by more than 11 points.” Kelly pressed on to question Kasich’s candidacy asking if he stealing votes from candidates that had a better chance of beating Trump. “I’m not sure who those people are but people counted me out, they said you know, he will never get to New Hampshire and we went to New Hampshire and we finished second,” Kasich said.
Interestingly enough, another big alternative to print and television media sprouted up in the last decade or two of the 20th century. Radio had been a part of American culture for decades and offered mainstays like NPR and Howard Stern. However, one specific individual firmly ingrained radio as a relevant source of political news and commentary: Rush Limbaugh. He, through all of his appearances, championed a new breed of conservative. Contrary to the stereotypes of old, Limbaugh made a name for himself with humor, or his tendency to delve into rants flavored with jokes.
Despite the rhetoric, Huckabee recognizes the polls indicate growing support for medical and recreational marijuana. He also recognizes that 23 states and the District of Columbia have some form of legalized marijuana program. That is almost half of the electorate, including a very large
Gary Johnson also supports the legalization of marijuana. He has been a strong supporter of the legalization of weed because he was the CEO of a company that sold marijuana and hoped to gain as legalization became legal throughout the nation. He has said “As President, I will not indulge in anything,” (Lizza, #1) describing how he will not drink beer or smoke pot if he is elected as the 45th President of

A gateway drug means marijuana use could open the door for potential abuse of more powerful drugs, such as cocaine or heroin. People get addicted to these harder drug easily. If we as Ohioans so choose to pursue the legalization of marijuana, and furthermore extend the law to recreational use, which would be the next step any benefits of medicinal marijuana will be overshadowed by wide spread hard drug use. In this study, patients with various medical problems were treated with THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana, and it was found to treat a wide range of various ailments such as: Tourette-Syndrome, appetite loss, weight loss, nausea, depression, HIV-infection, migraines, asthma, back pain, hepatitis C, sleeping disorders, epilepsy, spasticity, headaches, alcoholism, glaucoma, disk prolapse, spinal cord injury (Grotenhermen, 2002). But this chemical doesn’t fix theses medical issues, it merely masks the user in a temporary state of uforia If medical marijuana is legalized, this will open the floodgates of recreational marijuana use.
Education is the key to a brand new car. But the government crashed that car. They have no right to take away our education. The president brought us common core. This is a lot harder than regular math.
Joseph Heller's brilliant debut-novel, Catch-22, is a genuine piece of Classic American Literature. The longevity of the novel's following is nothing short of impressive for being a satirical work. It's also very accurate content-wise since it was based on Heller's experience as a B-25 Bombardier during World War 2. The novel has a humorous approach to providing an anti-war message by mocking war and those who fight in it. The political message is expressed clearly but without the dryness found in some other works.
“Political satire is a humorous, ironic, or sarcastic examination of the political arena in an attempt to expose absurdity and hypocrisy.” Political satire has rapidly become the most popular form of political news for he younger generation. Since the release of the Colbert Report in 2012 there has been a shift in the political scape of the United States. These political comedy shows, generally targeted at a more adolescent audience, is beginning to spark the interest of the younger generation. The presence of political satire is doing more for the political spectrum than simply attract the interest of the younger generation, the presence of the political satire is beginning to act as one of the sole news sources that is accessible for those
The truth about marijuana is that it should be legalized, and this is the stance that the documentary, “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High” is taking. The film uses great examples of ethos, pathos, and logos in an effective and persuasive way. “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High” details the hypocrisy in keeping marijuana illegal while having tobacco, a far more dangerous drug, legal, the reasons behind marijuana being illegal flipping to the complete opposite of its origin as an illegal substance, how marijuana is one of the most versatile and healthy herbs on the planet and how it is inexpensive compared to its substitutes, and how so much money is being put into a war against marijuana, even though it is an unwinnable
The course of conversion was beneficial to George W. Bush because he considered it as the only way possible to save his marriage and drift away from his drinking habit, his reaction was as follows: This saying shows his willingness to have a spiritual experience which can lead him to start his life over again. Certainly, George W. Bush’s personal story is seen as a support to many of his evangelical followers, seeing him as one of them who admits that his faith plays a role in his decision-making. According to Geoffrey, Layman and Hussey, much of the coverage of the George W. Bush’s relationship with the evangelicals’ constituency has seen it as special, planted in their shared spiritual experiences, they opined that:
It’s rare that a work of religious satire actually promotes faith as a whole, but that is the case in Cat’s Cradle, where Kurt Vonnegut spends more time discussing- or at the very least admitting to- the good things about faith and spirituality than he does criticizing religion. This is not to say that Vonnegut’s work is a glowing endorsement of all Gods and Holy Men- Vonnegut’s criticism of organized religion is harsh and total. All the same, the text does promote a sense of spirituality and connectivity with the world that is never contested. In short, Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle bitterly criticizes the habits and beliefs of organized religion, but stops short of criticizing (and in many ways endorses) the wide variety of good things which can
Joseph Heller is the first author ever to write about soldiers and the military in a different way than you usually see. When Joseph Heller began to write “Catch-22” in 1953 and published the novelle October 11, 1961. His take on war meshed perfectly with the anti-authoritarian that came of age in the 1960’s. In August 1994 Joseph Heller flew on a mission over the French town of Avignon. After that mission, Heller really understood that its really not an abstraction.
Satire reflects today’s society and democracy. Satire in modern day shows how people are constantly engaged in finding something or someone new, but don’t discover new things about themselves. Next, in television and radio broadcasts, parodies of the government, and of democracy occur. Society is searching for a person of importance to ridicule and criticize important issues, explaining why satire is present in everyday life. But, some satire is harming democracy, although famous people or things will continue to lampoon important occurrences until people stop enjoying it.
200,000 years: The approximate age of humankind. 6,000 years: The approximate age of civilization. If these numbers are true, human beings existed for 194,000 years without established language, education, or government. Unfortunately, these numbers are not accurate. Civilization has never existed on the Earth, despite what “civilized” humans say.
