John Mark Karr’s relationship with JonBenet began when he reached out to a University of Colorado Boulder professor named Michael Tracy over email. The emails, anonymous at first, revealed “the grown man’s sexual fascination with JonBenet” (Lovitt). Not only did he confess out-of-the-blue, but he confessed “to the strangulation of JonBenet in graphic, sexual detail”, which greatly concerned police and detectives (Lovitt). Throughout the multiple emails, Karr stated, “ ‘Nobody wanted that little girl to die that night- nobody. Her death was an accident. I was with her when she died. But I was not the person who caused it’ ” (Nauman).

The most likely suspects have all been exonerated. Gary Oliva was cleared after an arrest for unrelated charges, John Mark Karr falsely confessed and was only in the case for the media frenzy, Burke Ramsey was cleared by DNA evidence, as well as possible mental problems and social unawareness, John Ramsey was cleared by DNA evidence, and Patsy Ramsey was cleared by DNA evidence. However, after all of the theories, relationships, and evidence revealed, Patsy Ramsey is the most likely suspect in the death of JonBenet Ramsey. Although Patsy is dead, the only evidence preventing her from being convicted as the killer is the DNA evidence, which is already untrustworthy as John Ramsey destroyed a majority of it and police left the crime scene open for friends and family to pass through. JonBenet’s death was clearly staged, as evidence in favor of the intruder theory don't add up. Ultimately, the death of beautiful, young JonBenet Ramsey is a tragic case with an unbearable ending. As JonBenet’s 20-year anniversary is approaching this December, followers of the case will remember the little girl whose life was terribly lost.
