Johnny Cash
If I was Sam Phillips of Sun records, and I had to choose between Elvis Pressley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis I would have to choose Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash’s sound was formed from his influences with Gospel, Blues, Country, and Rock. Johnny Cash was a hard worker when he was growing up, and so I would expect him to work hard with his music career. Johnny Cash was influenced musically by his mother who sang hymns, and folk songs. Johnny Cash was also influenced by the music that workers would sing out in the fields.
Johnny Cash picked up a guitar for the first time at the age of 12 years old. Johnny Cash’s mother saved up enough money so Johnny could attend singing lessons. After just three lessons, his teacher told him to sing with his natural voice because it was unique. Religion was so important to Johnny’s childhood, his mother was devoted to her religion, and Jack, who is Johnny’s brother would’ve probably ended up being a preacher. One day when Johnny and Jack were out in the field, and there was an accident which took Jack’s life. Johnny was 14 years old at the time and was bothered by the untimely death of his brother.

Soon afterwards, Johnny joined the United States Air Force. Johnny attended basic training in the state of Texas. While in the Air Force Johnny worked as a radio intercept officer. Soon after being discharged from the Airforce, Johnny formed a band with a couple of mechanics from work, and they went by the name Johnny Cash and the Tennessee two.
