It was a long night, last night, on September 7th, 1940, when the Germans bombed

London. London was the “Heart of England”, which meant that this city was one of the most

important cities to the Allies at the time. The first attack started at 4:00 P.M. and lasted until 6:00

P.M. that night. In these two hours 348 German bombers escorted by 617 fighters blasted

London rapidly.
