he boston massacre was a large turning point in history for the American revolution, and sparked the beginning of the revolution. The boston massacre began on the evening of March 5th 1770, when a group of colonists gathered by a lone british soldier outside the Boston custom house located, on Kings street in Boston, and began a small street brawl. This small fight quickly escalated into something much larger and deadlier. The fight began as tensions were high between the British and the Americans, because many soldiers were put in place throughout Boston to enforce the hated tax laws. Angry colonists started physically and verbally assaulting soldiers using weapons such as bats, sticks, snowballs, and more to harm the soldiers on duty. The …show more content…

For example the article called “Boston Massacre” states, “Once the first shot rang out, other soldiers opened fire, killing five colonists…–and wounding six. Among the other casualties of the Boston Massacre was Samuel Gray, a rope maker who was left with a hole the size of a fist in his head.” This shows how People had died due to the fight the night of the Boston Massacre. Colonists were furious with the British and people didn't react well after the fight was over, thinking the British just shot at the colonists for no reason. It hurt a lot of the colonists and hurt society. Another example how the boston massacre had an impact was, on the way people had viewed british soldiers. For instance, “…by etching a now-famous engraving depicting British soldiers callously murdering American colonists. It showed the British as the instigators though the colonists had started the fight. It also portrayed the soldiers as vicious men and the colonists as gentlemen”(“Boston Massacre”). This illustrates how many were angry with the British and viewed them as evil and vicious. Many Americans were not too fond of the British during this time period so after the fight was over and they'd realized that some of their own had died it fueled their anger and hatred even more.
