The adults in Salem, Oregon in Stephen Karam’s Speech & Debate had good reason to treat the teens as if they were children. If Diwata, Solomon, and Howie were an accurate representation of the other students at the school, it is no wonder that the parents, teachers, and school board sought to exercise an abundance of control and provide too much guidance in their lives. The three teens dealt with “grown-up” issues throughout the play, but they tried to tackle them in characteristically childish ways. In the opening scene of the play, viewers are introduced to Howie, an openly gay 18-year-old.

In Liz Flahive’s play From Up Here, she explains how a family deals with the aftermath and acceptance of a school shooting at the hands of their son/brother. In some way or another they all deal with the acceptance, or lack thereof, from those that are around them. Many themes are covered in this play such as betrayal, acknowledgment and looking deeper than what is on the surface. In the beginning of the show you get this overwhelming feeling that this family has does not listen to each other.
A month earlier, a woman had been raped and murdered in her home, and police suspected that a neighbor named Kirk Eaton had done it. When they saw Allen walking a few blocks away from the crime scene, they originally thought he was Eaton, so they brought him in. Even when Detective Herbert Riley realized that he had arrested the wrong man, he didn’t let Allen go, instead interrogating him anyway. Allen was mentally ill and during questioning he admitted to being drunk. No matter how many times Allen protested that he was innocent, the detective didn’t let him go.

Tonight Abraham Lincoln, Mrs. Lincoln, Henry Rathbone, and his wife all attended the following play “Our American Cousin” written by Laura Keene. With the Lincoln’s arriving late, John Wilkes Booth had the advantage of knowing exactly where the Lincolns were located. Hiding in the darkness of the theater John Wilkes Booth was able to sneak towards the President’s box with a .44 caliber and a knife ready for an easy attack since there seemed to be no guards out on the watch.
By analyzing the evidence, I have determined the killer not legally insane during the act of murdering the old man. It is evident in the story that the killer can determine fantasy from reality. All parts of the story told are relevant and show awareness of everything that is happening. For example, in the beginning, the killer reiterates that he is not insane and boasts about how clearly he can tell the story.
You may think Mr.Smith was most likely insane when he admitted to two police officers that he killed the Mr.Johnson, dismembered the corpse, and hid the body parts under the floorboards. Let's say you think someone is insane what do you think of when you think of insane. I’d believe you would think of someone who has huge mood swings, excessive worrying or anxiety, hallucinations or delusions, and inability to cope with daily problems and activities. You will most definitely see in my essay that Mr.smith was not insane but just a murderous sane man. First of all, Mr.smith was a very intelligent man and planned every single move and procedure of this murder precisely , which is the exact opposite of uncontrollable or impulsive behavior.
The play “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling, is about a group of friends in a small town and later on have to deal with one of their friends who had type 1 diabetes and passed away. The play takes place mostly in a hair salon in a town called Chinquapin, Louisiana. Truvy Jones is the owner of the hair salon and is looking to hire when Annelle Dupuy comes in and asks for the job. Truvy is amazed at Annelle’s hair styling skills and instantly hires her. Later on, comes in M’lynn Eatenton and her daughter Shelby, who is having a wedding on that same day so they both decide to get their hair done, Clairee Belcher also appears at the hair salon to get her hair done.
3 In the modern-day parents often struggle with raising children. In the play, A Kid Like Jake two parents struggle with raising a five-year-old boy who is beginning to defy his genders standards. As Jake is interviewing for high-class preschool, he begins developing behavior issues meanwhile his parent’s relationship weakens when fertility problems are presented. This performance covers many societal issues making it an effective way to start a conversation.
I think ten dollars per person is a bit too cheap considering the quality of the play which was well done, and delivered to the point I will start attending more plays in the future from Grossmont College because I was left with such a good impression. I believe kids should not be allowed to the performance due to the sexual undertone and swear words incorporated in the lines of the actors. Despite the crammed seating that took a little comfort away from the whole experience I highly recommend the play, and will rate it 10 out of 10 Gumbos.

From the start of Much Ado about Nothing, directed by Josie Rourke, starring David Tennant as Benedick and Catherine Tate as Beatrice you notice the modernized aspect of the play. The first scene you have Hero dancing to her Walkman as Beatrice enters. Just by looking at this scene here, you have complete casual dress. You have shorts, t-shirts and flip flops, completely from what Shakespeare’s modern dress was when the play was being written. After that scene you have the introduction of Pedro, Benedick, and Claudio.
