Merriweather Lewis was an esteemed explorer who was known as the person who explored one half of America but, died because of suicide. In his case there were many things to be suspicious of to the point where you can speculate that it wasn’t even suicide, but because of murder by conspiracy. During the research about Merriweather Lewis’s death there was many things that lead to a murder like suspicious wounds and the many enemies that Merriweather had.
Before the time of his death Lewis was on his way to Washington to clear his debts with James Neely. However before going to Washington Lewis stopped at Grinder stone saying it was too dangerous. In the report about Lewis’s “suicide” it was said he had a deranged mind and was acting strange.

If he knew what was coming then it is possible that he wanted to keep himself safe. However in the video it was predicted that he had secret presidential codes and that is why many people would’ve tried to kill him to try and steal it. However this was not the only problem because in the autopsy the doctor saw the body and said he had 2 shots, one in the back of the head and the upper torso with a horse pistol. But this is a problem because a horse pistol known to be able to kill a horse with just one shot meaning if one shot is fatal to a horse then one shot is fatal to humans. If a human was ever shot with a horse pistol one shot would be enough to kill him/her making it impossible to say that Lewis shot himself twice. He also couldn’t have shot himself twice because in order to do so you would need to reload the gun, and since one shot is an instantaneous death then there would be no way you could shout yourself twice. In a confession made by the witness who was there on the day Lewis was …show more content…
The moment he got to Washington he was announced to be the governor for the new territory by the president. Though this a good thing for him the man he replaced was of course mad because this decision was made without him and his name was General Wilkinson. In the video we saw that the president never really trusted Wilkinson and he was also an enemy of Lewis. Another enemy is also Arron bur sir, the ex-vice president and a political enemy of Lewis. When Lewis was still alive he had a list on un-trustable companions that he would give to the president in code. In the scene of Lewis’s death it was predicted that he was carrying secret codes that should’ve been sent to the president. If this is correct then it is possible that it was about his political enemies and so his enemies heard and wanted him dead. If all his enemies were to work together and help each other kill Lewis they would be able to do so while covering it up as if it was a suicide. Evidence of a cover-up was found in a letter to the president from James Neely, the letter was about how Lewis had a deranged mind but it was found years later that the letter was actually a forgery. Also despite the fact Lewis was famous there wasn’t a huge fuss about his death. If his enemies worked together to kill him and to cover it up so well that even the president would fall for it then they were a force to be reckoned with.
•“She was not even listening. She had gotten tired of listening. She knew, as we all knew, what the outcome would be. A white man had been killed during a robbery, and thought two of the robbers had been killed on the spot, one had been captured, and he, too, would have to die” (4). This quote is important because it allows me to understand that Jefferson has to die because he was the only person in the liquor store and was a black man.
Undaunted Courage is a very detailed and descriptive story with both interesting and slow moving parts. The book portrays the point of view of Meriwether Lewis and his diary entries from early childhood to his expedition of the western United States. The book would be considered more of a resource to a research paper on the expedition of Lewis himself. Not many people would pick this book unless they enjoy the details of the western exploration or the personal thoughts of Meriwether Lewis before his departure and during the exploration. Undaunted courage can be considered “new” because the book is portrayed in the eyes of Meriwether Lewis.
How did Meriwether Lewis die William Clark and Meriwether Lewis were two revolutionary American explorers who had a big part in purchasing and exploring the Louisiana territory. On October 11, 1809 Meriwether Lewis was found dead at grinders stand inn with two gunshot wounds in his body, one in his stomach and one in the back of his head. Meriwether Lewis was asked by President Thomas Jefferson in 1801 to act as his private secretary. Jefferson soon made Lewis another offer to lead an expedition into the lands west of the Mississippi, which he did after enlisting William
Only one of those things has the greatest chance of being a conspiracy murder, and that is the assassination. William Morrow wrote in 1994 that Leon Chandler thought that Lewis was a victim of an assassination conspiracy, and of course it was Jefferson who wanted him dead. Lewis had discovered secrets about Jefferson and Jefferson thought that he would go to Washington and snitch, and Jefferson had a reputation to keep so what better than to kill the man that could ruin your
We’ve all heard the stories about Honest Abe and his untimely assassination in the theatre, but Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard’s book Killing Lincoln transports us back in time and relives the story of the days leading up to the day that changed America forever. Our story opens up March 4, 1865, six weeks before Lincoln’s assassination, when the United States of America was in the midst of its biggest turmoil. The Southern and the Northern states had divided into the Confederacy and the Union and were fighting in America’s bloodiest war in history: the Civil War. Lincoln was just reelected by his people and taking his second oath of office, little does he know that the man who will seal his fate is sitting in this very crowd and harboring
On Sunday, November 13, 1842 a double murder occurred at Smith Farm in Old Fields, Long Island. The victims, Alexander Smith and and Rebecca Smith, were a wealthy, well- respected married couple who ran Smith farm. George Weeks, the Smiths farmhand, was reporting for work the monday after the murder and heard the dog barking from the work-shed by the Smiths house. George Weeks then became suspicious since the dog was usually inside with Mr. Smith. George then looked in the house and saw that the east room window was broken and Mr. and Mrs. Smith were lying on the floor covered in blood.
I can only imagine the clicking noise of their digital camera taking countless pictures of them in bed together. Not just any normal photos though, if you know what I mean. Twenty Eight year old Jodi Arias was said to have murdered her ex-boyfriend in 2008, thirty year old Travis Alexander, during their booty call. Alexander and Arias met at a conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, in September 2006. A week after this conference meeting, they started a sexual relationship with each other.
Thomas Jefferson’s Instructions to Meriwether Lewis discussed the appointment of Lewis as commander of the expedition, gave specific details of the purpose of the exploration, and provided directions for Lewis to follow when carrying out the trip. Thomas Jefferson carefully selected his personal secretary, Meriwether Lewis, to be the commander of the Expedition and trusted that he would be able to perform the tasks assigned to him. Jefferson requested that an abundant amount of precise notes be taken and that they be protected at all costs. He was interested in learning about the people occupying the land, their culture, the ecosystems, and the land. In addition to note taking, treating the Native Americans with respect and peace was important
Meriwether Lewis was a man who traveled to the then unknown bought by President Jefferson from the French in 1803. After the expedition in 1806, on his way to Washington he was found dead, on October 11, 1809. Lewis was possibly killed by an assassination. David Leon Chandler’s book The Jefferson Conspiracies: A president’s Role in Assassination of Meriwether Lewis, Chandler contended that Lewis was a victim of an assassination conspiracy set by Thomas Jefferson.

The biggest theme of The Great Divorce is salvation; more specifically, ensuring one’s immortal soul reaches Heaven and not Hell through the exercising correct moral choices in life and the practice of forgiving others and seeking forgiveness for your own sins. For Lewis, Heaven and Hell are not metaphoric or ideas, they are real places. In the book, Lewis develops this by having other related themes that affect salvation like, vanity vs. pride, love, the value of ideologies, faith vs. skepticism, jealousy, anger, and forgiveness.
In making the argument for the existence of the Law of Human Nature, C.S. Lewis first establishes the acknowledgement of a few different universal laws that man in subjected to. There is the law of gravity, in which Lewis insinuates that in the eyes of gravity, the body of man and a mere stone are one and the same. Then there are biological laws that correspond with those than an animal has. However, the one law that is specific to man and that man is free to disobey or get “mistaken”, is the “Law of Nature or decent behavior” (Lewis). C.S. Lewis uses inductive reasoning to form this kind of logic by first making the observation that even though throughout time man has seemed to have had different agreements of what they believe to be moral,
