Middle Tennessee, otherwise known as the city of Nashville, is full of places to adventure and explore. Though I have not lived here long, I have caught a slight glimpse of all the area has to offer and will only discover more as the years go on. Lucky for me, I had an assignment to go visit at least two of the top ten place in Middle Tennessee to visit and was able to dive into some of the history and culture in Nashville. The two places I chose to visit, though a hard decision, were the Ryman Auditorium and The Parthenon in Centennial Park. Both locations were beautiful in their rich history and incredible architecture. Sadly, I did not tour either location because, as a college student, cash is running a little low, but luckily I was able …show more content…
We were there to see Of Monsters and Men, an indie band from Iceland, and I was as excited as could be. Neither of us had ever been before so we arrived to the show around an hour early to walk around and see the beautiful and prestigious, Ryman Auditorium. I arrive to the Ryman in my Uber out front and am in awe of the newly redone front entrance. Everyone is so lively and happy to be there at one of the most famous and well known music venues in the country. I enter to see the sparking new added on front area and visitor’s center mixed with the classic architecture towards the back. My tickets are for the balcony so I head up the extremely steep stairs to a gorgeous hallway with windows that are very typical to a church. I observed all of the posters filling the walls of past bands that have performed on the stage. As I head to my seat, I see the pews I have heard so much about for their uniqueness and uncomfortableness. I look around constantly and admire the ceilings, windows, and stage of a venue that has so much life pulsing out of every corner. When the band took the stage and began performing, they could not stop talking about how honored they were to be playing at such a location and how happy they were to be in Nashville. The light and sound was incredible which made the whole experience much more
Nashville was known as the Athens of the south. 3. How did John Lewis feel about going to jail for not paying the fine? John Lewis was honored to be part of it. 4.
The concert included a wide array of songs. My favorite song from the set was “Sweet Little Angel”. I love the sounds that the guitarist was able to make with the guitar. I could not keep myself from bobbing my head and really getting engrossed into the song. The instruments were poignant and well played
Between the exciting attractions, to the amazing views, both Tennessee and the Bahamas have their aspects about them that draw millions of vacationers yearly to enjoy their amenities. Tennessee and the Bahamas both experience the most tourism during the summer months. With each place having a major touring spot like Nassau and Pigeon Forge. Both locations have large attractions that draw crowds in to enjoy what they have to offer. There is also several places for tourists to shop at both locations, making them popular among the tourists.
If it weren’t for the “New Deal” programs in the 1930s, Tennessee’s State Park system would be unrecognizable and not one of the best in the United States (US). With the assistance of federal money and guidance, Tennessee has been able to create an integrated system of parks that capture the natural beauty and character of Tennessee while providing amazing outdoor public recreation activities. The programs helped establish state parks; influenced Tennessee’s governmental structure to ensure the vision of regional planning and interconnectivity continued; and developed a land planning strategy that is still used today. Visiting any one of the current 56 State Parks will provide an insight to Tennessee’s long history with the federal government.
As I walk through the doors hundreds of memories flood into my mind as the smell of yesterday’s incense hits my nose. In a way I grew up here from baptism, first communion, to confirmation. Various friends and family scattered in the pews nodding to you as you enter the church since in a small town everyone knows everyone. The church is large and ornate for where it is placed; a little town of roughly 200 people. The inside is magnificent with intricately carved wooden pillars and elaborate paintings of Bible stories on the dome ceiling.
When word got out the concert was free things got a little out of hand. over 500,000 people were heading to max's dairy farm. The venue was so packed people were abandoning cars on high ways to walk there. If the insane amount of people wasn't enough, problems arouse with performers.
There is such a place called Nashville in the state of Georgia! If I am not mistaken, there is a Nashville in every Southern state in honor of the Revolutionary War hero General Francis Nash . He was a native Virginian reared in North Carolina, who through his military service brought notoriety to the Nash name. If I am wrong about there being a Nashville in each Southern state, I know of at least two, my hometown, and some other place where they sing country music or something.
Private Trip, who is played by Denzel Washington, was a runaway slave from Tennessee. He was a very arrogant and complex man who was constantly searching to fights. He tried to get into fights with Thomas due to his hatred to him and due to his education and privileges he had. From the start of the movie, his anger and his resentment of the white men was usually taken out on his fellow soldiers. There were even cases that he would start fights with the white soldiers because they would say the 54th would have no chance to fight in the field and he knew he was tougher than other men he served with.
The Tennessee Aquarium is the best aquarium in the South. With two buildings containing river creatures and sea creatures, you are bound to have an amazing time! Another must see sight is the Hunter art museum. It is filled with remarkable architecture and artwork. It is sure to meet your expectations.
The Appalachian Symphony Orchestra performed, Celebration and Remembrance. The orchestra opened with Fanfare for the Common Man. Which was conducted by Mr. Smith. It was a great way to start off a World War II and Civil War Memorial concert. It was the opening piece and the orchestra was full of energy, and came out loud and with the bang.
After the tour is over, there are refreshments in an event tent. There are paintings depicting church history and pamphlets with information about the church. My grandmother and I sit together while we wait for the rest of our group to catch up with us. My grandmother takes my and hand and looks me in the eyes.
We went to all sorts of places on the tour. The sites, churches, buildings, and the view was outstanding. Even though I couldn’t understand the tour guide as much as I would have wanted to the scenery made up for it. We stopped by many churches that were nothing like the churches I was used to seeing. They had beautiful pantings,
I had been in band from fifth grade through high school so even just hearing an ensemble sound again was amazing as I miss band very much. I also really enjoyed The Swan Lake Suite as it has been one of my favorite pieces since I was little, so it was also really nice to hear something that I already knew a little of how it would go. The orchestra sounded amazing and I am also good friends with one of the bassoon players so it was neat that one of our concerts to choose from had someone I knew in it. It was so interesting to hear all of the elements we have been discussing in class, actually in person and it was helpful that I was in band throughout school
Not only did audience members get the opportunity to watch some of their bisons family perform some audience members got to actually go on stage and dance! Personally I am not a big dancer so I made sure to stay in the back and
As I stepped out of my car, I acknowledge that the church was surrounded by trees, which gave it a calming and peaceful sensation, the building was long with a triangular shaped form, with burgundy bricks surroundings and a bit of white in the front entrance and some at the very top and sides with a dark beige roofing to give the church some color, the windows seemed to be a tinted crystal glass that was designed with blues and a beige color. As I made my way into the church their was an entry room where a man and a women and what seemed to be their two children greeted me and handed me a pamphlet that described what was going to take place in that days Sunday school and mass, then I made my way to another pair of doors where I could hear the choir singing, as I opened the doors the inside of the church was a tan wood looking color all around and had matching tan benches with burgundy red bedding to match the carpet, the thing that stood out most to me when I walked in was the large cross that was in the very front that shined very bright as if the sun was hitting it to give the whole church light, when I looked below the cross, the choir was singing and beside it was a women playing a piano with so much passion and in front of them was a the pastors book stand also a matching tan color with his bible. The people were very kind as I sat down next to a friend that attends that church, they welcomed me with open arms and talked a bit about them self’s and the amount of time
