Mission and Vision Statement
The mission statement defines an action-based statement that declares the purpose of an organization and how they serve their customers. In some cases, it includes the description of the company. A mission statement gives a short summary of the company’s purpose. The vision statement gives the direction in which the company desires to achieve in the long run. The mission and vision statement option I chose is option 2: To improve health by providing high-quality care. Vision: Provide the broadest range of services in the county. I think this statement best fit because they want to provide high quality care and also comprehensive range of services. Their vision is to create a large range of services. Option 2 covers what Stevens District Hospital mission and vision is but it also shortens up the verbiage. The plan they have is to be able to provide care for different facility types to accommodate the needs of each patient they care for. By creating this type of plan, it will help the organization to provide quality care to their patients.

Vision: Provide the broadest range of services in the county. The present mission statement for Stevens District Hospital is to improve health by providing high- quality care, a comprehensive range of services, and exceptional care. The mission statement doesn’t change much but with the vision statement Stevens District Hospital being that they want to be the health care providers and provide a range of choices for their patients such as multi-specialty, physician practice, family practice, specialist in cardiology, oncology, and woman’s services. The mission statement is rather long and I think the best way to sum it up is with option 2 provide the broadest range of services in the county. Introduction As the administrator of Mainstay Medical Center, I will create a mission and vision statement for the organization, identify strategic goals and recommend strategies that will be effective in achieving the goals of the organization. Mission statements serve just as great of a purpose to the community as they do to the organization. It is an organization’s promise to the community and a way to hold themselves accountable within their organization. An organization’s mission statement refers to a brief description of the organization’s purpose. The mission statement articulates to the organizations purpose to the public (Ward, 2005). The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is to “fulfill President Lincoln's promise: "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans” (Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). Since its inception, the Department of Veterans Affairs has undergone many changes however; its core mission remains unchanged. The purpose of the mission statement is to declare what goods or services a company or organization intends to provide (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). Based upon this premise, the mission statement for West TN Healthcare shows that the organization intends to provide health care that is both exceptional and compassionate and that by doing so its purpose is to improve the health and well-being of the communities surrounding it (WTH.org, n.d.). West TN Healthcare’s mission statement does meet the criteria set forth as a viable mission statement.

According to Education Reform(2014), the mission is described as a statement that provides the institutions purpose and commitments to the students, stakeholders, and the community. Some people tend to use the terms mission and vision interchangeably, however the two have their own distinct meaning for the institution, Education Reform(2014). According to Calder(2014), the mission statement assists the institution in learning what things are good so they can proceed and build on those things and on the other hand to discover what things are bad so they can rid themselves of the negative things.

(Miller, 2014) Tesla’s mission is ‘to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport by bringing compelling mass market electric cars to market as soon as possible’.
