I have spent the most amazing years of my life so far in this incredible university expanding my education and attaining unforgettable experiences. I cannot express how thankful I am for providing me with this scholarship that will help fund my education and time here at The University of Texas at Austin. It is very generous and it makes me feel extremely grateful to know that you value my education as much as I do. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, which seems to be in a completely different state considering how big in size Texas is. My dad was born in Sonora, Mexico and my mom is Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, which is the border city right next to El Paso, TX. During the time my parents were married, we all lived in Juarez and my …show more content…
One of the clubs I was part of during high school was AVID, which focused on college readiness. Through his club, I was able to learn about college for the first time and my perspective on the future started to re-shape itself. By my junior year of high school I knew I wanted to attend The University of Texas at Austin, however I was still not sure what I wanted to major …show more content…

For the past two years, I have been involved in the Carmax Cares community service month. We provided assistance to the Foster Care Support Foundation in Roswell, Georgia. This organization sends out gently worn closes, shoes and other necessities to support foster care providers in the state of Georgia. We packaged items to be sent out and organized their warehouse inventory. On campus I am an active member of SABAC as well as the Georgia Club.
Some recent volunteer activities/events were free yoga in the park, a canned good drive, and a free dental clinic for those in need. A graduate
By being a part of the organizations listed above, I encounter many opportunities of community service and volunteer work that contribute to enhancing CSU and its community. Being a member of The Competitive Premedical Program, we are given the opportunity to volunteer
Through my organization, I have earned over 500 hours of community service and was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Bronze Medallion for my continued efforts in giving back to the community. During the summer, I assist
My grandpa died practically one year before I was born. My mom was 44 when I was born. My mom was originally from California, and my dad is originally from here, Iowa. My dad was a big traveler until he met my mom.
Throughout high school I have participated in many different activities and programs, but one of the opportunities I was given I will carry with me forever. As a junior at River Valley I participated in the Marion General Teen Volunteer Program. After interviewing and being placed in the physical therapy unit I took the opportunity to branch out into other areas of the hospital. I soon made my way to the labor and delivery floor where everyday a miracle happened. My duties while volunteering included assisting the nurses during hearing checks, changing diapers, and rocking crying infants in special care.
I have always been curious why perfection is so strongly sought after, even with the knowledge that such flawlessness is unattainable, and imperfection is often equated with failure. It is human nature to want to succeed; no one strives to do poorly, but it is not fair to limit ourselves to a system of either passing or failing. I used to believe that I must be the best at everything, regardless of my actual skills, interests, or talents. I wanted to be the distinguished athlete, the brilliant student, the amusing socialite and the compassionate friend at all times, and more importantly, I wanted to be the best in all of those categories simultaneously. The day I realized I couldn’t be perfect at everything was the same day I thought it would be best to drop out of AP Calculus.
Why do I want to attend college? College is an honorary achievement and it separates the determined from the undetermined. Owning a college to degree is an honor and an ecstatic feeling. Through college, that job is that much closer in the grasp. Through college, a person can perform at an elite level and really push themselves for greatness.
We must acknowledge that there will be times where we lose our position, only to realize where we stand. Growing up life seemed hard, but now I realized how amazing it was; I had a family who loved me and I was never seen different (discriminated), I was always told I had four very impart jobs: have respect for people even if I didn’t like them, do good in school, always ask questions and never forget where I came from, little did I know I realized where I came from after I left. When I came to the United States of America, New York became a dream, but we must all wake up and stop dreaming; I did after my mother past away a year after I’ve arrived. The world became gray, for I was very downhearted and life felt like death because of all the
July 1999, scorched by the summer sun, tanned by summer memories, and buzzed with childhood thoughts. It began. I began to create the ultimate end of summer adventure, a tunnel. I decided to dig a tunnel from my secret spot in the wooded area behind my house to China. Powered by determination and excitement, I started digging.
I consider myself extremely blessed to be able to live here in the United States, earn an undergraduate degree, and then start my career with a fortune 500 company. I know how unlikely this opportunity is for a young child, grown up in a third-world country. I left Pakistan, the country I was born and raised in at an early age of 18 to pursue better opportunities. With a completely different culture and language we as a family knew it will be a tough transition. But it wasn’t until I arrived in the U.S. when I realized the scale of each challenge I was up against.
It is a statement written by a student wish to pursue a discipline of his or her choice in the academics of UK universities. Student has to give personal statement regarding the suitability candidature for particular course before enrollment. The statement must contain the personal details, choice of the course, and the content should be convinced to the admission tutors. Hundreds of applicants’ personal statement, the admission tutor goes through as a part of evaluation to select candidates on the basis of meritocracy. Most of the universities do not resort to the process of interview; hence it is obvious that personal statement does all the talks and the reading of the same must draw attention, i.e. to make a firsthand impression.
I grew up with a single mother who worked and raised three kids by herself. We struggle everyday, but somehow I have a roof over my head, clothes, food to eat, and a bed to sleep in. My mother always told me do not let anyone tell you that you can not achieve your dreams. My mother also taught me that food is life. This is the reason I plan on going to College to receive my bachelors degree to make all the things my mother does for me mean something.
In ten years I see myself in college studying something that I love and want to do for the rest of my life. I do not have it all planned out because I'm only twelve but I want to be a Lawyer or a teacher at the moment. I see myself working at a humane society or at a pet store in my free time, but other than that I will be in college trying to be a Lawyer or a Teacher. Choosing this goal is important to me because my parents have not finished college yet and I want to have a job that I will like.
A college education is very important for me to obtain the career I want. College will provide me the knowledge and practice I need to be successful. Going to college will help me get accustomed to the pressure of the real world and will give me the opportunity to become independent. Graduating college is my number one goal in life. It would be an awarding payoff for all the hard work and dedication to my studies throughout high school.
