On June 2011, Dave Holloway filed a petition with the Alabama courts seeking to have his daughter declared legally dead. His former wife opposed the petition. A hearing was held on September 23, 2011, during which Probate Judge Alan King ruled Dave Holloway had met the requirements for a legal presumption of death. On January 12, 2012, a second hearing was held, after which Judge King signed the order declaring Natalee Holloway to be dead (Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015). Ten years after Natalee Holloway went missing, a Dutch citizen came forward and claimed he knew where to find her. Prosecutors, however, did not take the statement serious. Jurriën de Jong told CNN 's that the teen 's body is buried in a crawl space at a Marriott vacation property in Aruba, and he believes he saw her in her final moments. According to De Jong he was near Marriott 's Aruba Surf Club, then under construction, on the night of May 30, 2005, when he saw a young man chase a young woman through the construction site. This case still remains unsolved and Natalee Holloway 's body has never been found. If assigned to conduct the investigation something 's I would have done would be; process the room in which she stayed in, also immediately collect the clothing that the suspects wore the night she went missing, this would include their shoes. In her room I would process it for latent prints to assure only those of hers were found and not the suspects. All the sheets and towels would be collected for analyzes to ensure no foreign DNA found. The room would be examined with the UV light to ensure no large amount of blood was present. The suspects clothes would be analyzed for any trace evidence if no trace evidence found then it would be analyzed with BlueStar. The shoes can also be examined for any blood evidence as well as for trace evidence such as if they were ever in Ms. Holloways room carpet fibers could be found
